Merge proposal
[edit]Merging from Zarjoob to here (Shahrud (river) the older article) for what seems like a duplicate topic sounds like a good idea. Klbrain (talk) 13:30, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
- Agreed this is a duplicate . --Erp (talk) 07:01, 19 November 2021 (UTC)
- I've posted a mention on the Talk:Sefīd-Rūd since this is a tributary of that and people working on that article may know preferred name for the merger. --Erp (talk) 07:13, 19 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Klbrain: I gather there is a question whether these are in fact two distinct rivers; however, the question arose in a different wiki and I haven't seen any info beyond assertion; Does anyone know more. If it is, the English article on Zarjoob needs to be heavily corrected. --Erp (talk) 21:47, 28 May 2022 (UTC)
- I got what was probably the same ping on Wikidata; awaiting evidence one way or the other ... I'm no subject expert here, but it would be nice to have some sources discussing this. Klbrain (talk) 22:00, 28 May 2022 (UTC)
- The are two separate pages in the Persian wikipedia and it is almost certain that the Zarjoub is a separate short river that is near Rasht (the bigger river being the Sefid-Rud well after the Shah-Rud has joined it) and apparently heavily polluted. One English language reference has Haghnazar, Hamed; Cunningham, Jeffrey A; Kumar, Vinod; Aghayani, Ehsan; Mehraein, Mojtaba (2022). "COVID-19 and urban rivers: Effects of lockdown period on surface water pollution and quality- A case study of the Zarjoub River, north of Iran". Environmental Science and Pollution Research. 29 (18): 27382–27398. doi:10.1007/s11356-021-18286-5. ISSN 0944-1344. Retrieved 2022-05-29. Which definitely indicates this is a totally separate river that isn't even a tributary of the Sefid-Rud. I think this is sufficient to start heavily editing the Zarjoob river article. --Erp (talk) 01:47, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
