October 2005 merge request, Shadow cabinet + Shadow government
[edit]With only three votes below, can we safely remove the tag now? - CobaltBlueTony 18:43, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
- As stated in WP:MM, enough time has passed in the voting of the article, and its clear concensus on the page is unonimous; I'm removing the tag. However, I would still like to know why this article was put up for a merge in the first place.-MegamanZero 23:59 8<december 2005 (UTC)
- It was done by a non-logged in user. Unless they step up and create an account, we may never know who it is so as to ask them why. - CobaltBlueTony 21:57, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit]- no - they are different things. Chendy (talk) 02:35, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- no
- Should not be merged, because people unfamiliar with the concept might confuse 'shadow cabinet' with the sci-fi/conspiratorial meaning given at the bottom of the 'shadow government' entry. Then they won't understand if they encounter the term in real-life news. -megabigBLUR
- No,Should not be merged; same reason as above, also, I would like to know the reason why this article was choosen for merging in the first place; its a personal peeve of mine when people think a article should be merged or "conformed to higher standard of quality", then don't explain thier reasons for doing so on the dicusssion page.-MegamanZero 17:16, November 19, 2005
- NO - For all of the reasons above. - CobaltBlueTony 18:43, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
- NO ditto, now you have 4 votes, I say remove the tag Hichris 20:23, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
I'm pretty disappointed in this entry. It seems to dismiss the concept of a shadow government as part of somebody's nutcase conspiracy theory. In fact, there are some real shadow governments at various places in the world. The one I am most familiar with is well documented by Rosaleen Duffy, "Shadow players: ecotourism development, corruption and state politics in Belize" (_Third World Quarterly_:Vol 21, No 3, pp 549– 565, 2000) I just spent over five years in Belize and the article is not idle speculation.
Altho I use Wikipedia frequently, I've never been a contributor, or I might volunteer. I just think there's a flavor to this entry that I don't like much.

[edit]- Support - Posted the tag to hopefully get this going again Mcoogan75 (talk) 07:52, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- These two articles are essentially the same, or at least deal with the same concept. Neither are hot on sources, discussion or edits. I support merging the two to create one high quality article in favor of two mediocre ones. Mcoogan75 (talk) 07:05, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
Examples?
[edit]Some real world examples, past or present, would be nice, if any exist beyond Propaganda Due. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propaganda_Due 71.195.87.156 (talk)
