Sh 2-185 → Sh2-185 – For consistency with other articles on Sharpless objects. SevenSpheres (talk) 22:32, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose: The current name is the one used in the scientific papers on the subject, and hence satisfies WP:COMMONNAME. I believe it's the other Wikipedia articles that are in error. The SIMBAD dictionary of nomenclature confirms this.[1] Praemonitus (talk) 00:53, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- Support for consistency purposes. Being the common name does not matter here. 21 Andromedae (talk) 15:38, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- @21.Andromedae: Okay, per MOS:ASTRO, how about consistent compliance with IAU naming conventions then?[2] I.e. "Acronym ^ Sequence ^ (Specifier)", Just leaving them the way they are for reasons of inertia is a lazy approach. Praemonitus (talk) 15:46, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- I've opened an alternative move proposal at Talk:Sh2-1. SevenSpheres (talk) 16:07, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
