Single and album title translations
[edit]Beginning work to give English translations for all single and album titles. -- Meyer 09:37, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
- Good luck! ;D A suggestion; can you put the nihongo templates into Romaji-Kanji-EnglishTranslation since the title would actually almost always be called by the Japanese name. This order is often used in articles of Japanese musicians. (Dare ga Tameni Kane wa Naru (誰がために鐘は鳴る, For Whom the Bell Tolls)) ☆CharlesNguyễn 11:23, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm going to continue the translation using the {{Nihongo}} template as I have been. One reason is that the template parameters are defined in the order 1) English, 2) kanji, 3) romaji. Although the results may display OK using a different order, non-standard usage will probably bite someone in the future. Another reason is that the Japanese manual of style does not indicate that song title translations should be ordered any differently that {{Nihongo}}. While Hamada's fans may be more familiar with the Japanese titles, I think listing the English translation first is easier to read for general readers of the English Wikipedia. -- Meyer 17:35, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
- If anyone agrees enough with Charles's suggested title ordering to edit the page accordingly, I recommend that instead of changing the order of {{Nihongo}} parameters, marking-up the titles like "Romaji ({{nihongo|English|Kanji}})" would be a way to get close to Charles's prefered order without subverting the intention of {{Nihongo}}. -- Meyer 05:35, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
