[edit]

The intersection of sexual orientation and

  • LGB-specific Health
  • diseases for which sexual orientation is a risk factor
  • sexual orientation as a factor contributing to health disparities (underserved community)
  • physicians who identify as LGB
  • physicians whose practice is primarily within LGB community
  • medical associations the membership of which sexual orientation is a major factor
  • medical associations that have a policy regarding sexual orientation
  • therapies & medical treatments which are meant to address sexual orientation
  • history of medicine with regards to sexual orientation
    • HIV/AIDS
    • discrimination based on sexual orientation within medical community
    • discrimination based on sexual orientation at medical schools
    • changes in curriculum related to LGB at medical schools / teaching LGB specific care

That's roughly what I'm thinking this is about . . . now what should it be called? Touro OsteopathicFreak T 15:57, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Needs Rewording

[edit]

The article reads, 'This article discusses issues related to sexual orientation and medicine including medical associations's positions on LGBT issues, and historical timeline regarding medical acceptance of the concept of sexual orientation and related issues.' This sentence is not grammatical, and does not make complete sense. Skoojal (talk) 04:10, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Problem solved....... Article has been split off to Timeline of sexual orientation and medicine, List of LGBT medical organizations (which was already split off), and the final third (medical associations with policy related to sexual orientation) merged into a section in sexual orientation as there didn't seem to be enough content to merit its own article. As good intentioned as the article may have been, it was pretty scattered as far as its mission and scope. hopefully this will work better. --User0529 (talk) 04:35, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
