Issues with this article
[edit]To say Southern Cross Television began with TNT-9 is not correct. The name "Southern Cross TV8" was first associated with Victorian TV stations BCV-8, STV-8, GLV-8 in the early '80s. TNT-9 was a completely separate entity until it was bought by Southern Cross Broadcasting in 1988, and the company re-badged all stations as "Southern Cross Network" in March 1989 to reflect the addition of TNT-9 to the company. Andjb 11:38, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
It is also incorrect that Fred Archer is labelled the first person to appear on TV in Tasmania, given that two other TV stations (ABT-2 and TVT-6) were broadcasting in Tasmania since 1960 - two years before TNT-9. Andjb 11:38, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
Southern Cross have never used the "gottaloveit" slogan either. At the moment there doesn't appear to be a regulalarly used slogan apart from "Tasmania's Number 1". 121.44.221.38 (talk) 09:21, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm in Western Australia and watched the Tim Campbell series of Discover Tasmania here, so it wasn't shown just in Tasmania as stated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.169.91.70 (talk) 03:46, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
Disambig to other channel
[edit]Why is This article is about Southern Cross Television. For other uses, see Southern Cross Ten. not needed. I mean it provides a quick link to the station run in Victoria. --124.180.53.46 (talk) 05:47, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
- Southern Cross Ten isn't called Southern Cross Television or Southern Cross and Southern Cross Television or Southern Cross isn't called Southern Cross Ten, so no disambiguation is needed. Bidgee (talk) 05:53, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
- But I and many people I know from rural areas commonly refer to Southern Cross Ten as Southern Cross. I think it's wrong to assume that Southern Cross Ten is not commonly referred to as Southern Cross. Southern Cross Television can easily be mistaken for Southern Cross Ten. This is what happened to me today, because when I started to read the article it didn't make sense, where was Victoria, then did a bit of hunting and found that Victorian Southern Cross is called Southern Cross Ten. --124.180.53.46 (talk) 06:41, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
- I've never heard anyone refer SCT as SC, I have heard people refer SCT in Canberra and South West Slopes as Ten Capital, SCT was known as Ten <insert region here> before being rebranded to SCT. Each channel and articles are clearly different and easy to recognise as they are. Bidgee (talk) 06:49, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
- I just thought it would be easier to use the about template as a quick jump at the top of page, rather than scrolling to the bottom. I really don't see the problem with it, as both are owned by the same media group. Would you rather use the Also see template. People do refer to SC10 as just Southern Cross. --124.180.53.46 (talk) 07:20, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
