confusing Intro
i've re-read this part of the first sentence several times, and i can't make sense of it:
- A set-top box (STB) or set-top unit (STU) is an information appliance device that generally contains a TV-tuner input and displays output to a television set and an external source of signal, turning the source signal into content in a form that can then be displayed on the television screen or other display device.
granted, i'm no expert on AV stuff--i'd say i know a bit more than your average American citizen who's had cable and OTA television services. which actually seems to mean it DEFINITELY needs work—if the intro sentence immediately confuses someone coming to the page looking for general information. i'm assuming it is the sentence structure causing confusion, rather than the info being actually incorrect. here's a possibility i managed to come up with, but it don't want to edit the page simply because i'm not sure if this is what the sentence is supposed to mean:
- ...[an STB is a device that]...generally contains multiple input signal options, as well as a built-in tuner, and processes the content of a source signal into a form that can then be output to a television screen or other display device.Colbey84 (talk) 11:57, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
