Glad to see that my article has been moved up a bit. However, being my first article, I am not sure what its designation as "List Status" implies. Went to the page for grading schemes, but that was not helpful either. Are the grading schemes hierarchial? and if so, is designation as "List" below that of a "Stub?" I have used about 14 external references which I believe to be reliable. A Discography seems to be a type of LIST by definition (as is the discography, for example of Enrico Caruso). I did not feel that the extensive sales information by country, (As are a lot of newer discographies) to rise above being categorized by "Tables." I gathered all of the known recordings by Sergio Franchi, consulted some examples within Wikipedia, then came up with my organizational scheme for information that should be included on the discography.. incorporating Wikipedia criteria. I had some concerns about loading the Discography with TOO much information that would be better reserved for the Main Franchi article. I am preparing a major revision to the main page for Sergio Franchi, enlarging it from the current stub. I also wish to place a link on the Franchi page to the discography page. Can I do that now.. or am I stuck in a "List Limbo?" Appreciate your thoughts on these and other issues of which I should become knowlegable. Thanks, CatherineCathlec (talk) 19:17, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
- Have linked main Sergio Franchi article to Discography. ??This article was created with a capital "D." Should it not be written "discography" as other articles of same type? Don't know how to change this. CatherineCathlec (talk) 19:40, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
- "List" just means that this article is a stand-alone list and isn't judged under our usual classifications for articles. The other grades are hierarchical, but "List" isn't part of the hierarchy. To change the title of an article, click the "move" tab at the top of the page. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask! Danger (talk) 19:45, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
- As far as changing the title, you can do so by moving the page. – Luna Santin (talk) 23:46, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
Improving Article
[edit]This article does not refer to a living person. Sergio Franchi died in 1990. Answered this on another talk page. Thanks Bearcat for keeping all the article names and talk pages together under correct spelling. Have added Categories and Default Sort, and interlanguage links. Don't see other formatting the Article problems?? Could someone help me is there is an article formatting issue I am missing? Will work through other issues tomorrow. CatherineCathlec (talk) 02:30, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
{{Help me}} I have reviewed all of the issues marked at the start of the article and have some comments after current corrections. 1.) This is not a biography of a living person. It is a discography and Sergio Franchi died in 1990. 2.) To me, my references appear to be reliable and are more numerous than many similar articles. 3.) Regarding layout style, I have corrected headings for sentence style, added Default Sort, Categories, and interlanguage links. Are there remaining layout problems? 4.) I have removed any text that could be seen as promotional and/or without information. 5.)I have edited again for any common problems (spelling, grammar, contractions, etc.) that I can detect. 6.) I would need some additional feedback as I cannot detect any unsourced information. Thanks, CatherineCathlec (talk) 18:41, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
- Regarding Item No. 5 above: A Big One! Caught this one myself. Added quote marks to all song titles. Big blind spot! CatherineCathlec (talk) 23:39, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
I have removed several of the tags (including, yes, the "BLP" one).
- The link to "Sergio Franchi Official Website" does not work
- IMDB is not a reliable source, nor is "Ebay", nor is "YouTube"
- Examples of unreferenced information include:
- 1926–1990 - where can those dates be checked?
- Romantic Italian Songs, reached a peak position of seventeen on the Billboard 200 albums chart in 1962. The following year several of his albums, Our Man From Italy (number sixty-six), and Broadway..I Love You (at number one hundred and three) reached the Billboard 200 albums peak positions. Also in 1963, Franchi recorded an album of duets with the Metropolitan Opera star, Anna Moffo - I can't see where I can check any of that.
- In "Neapolitan and Italian songs", The sixty-nine songs in this category were recorded in a varity of combinations of Italian and English. Most of the traditional Neapolitan songs were recorded in Italian (eg. O Sole Mio and Torna a Surriento); but many were sung in combinations of Italian and English (eg. Anema E Core, and Dicitencello Vuje) to appeal to American audiences; and a few like O Marenariello were popularized with an English translation (in this case I Have But One Heart).
- Note: Nominated for "Best Original Song" at 1969 Golden Globe Awards
- (There are other unreferenced claims too)
- The web references would be much better if they were not just 'bare' URLS, but instead, if they gave the title of the link, the author, the date, and any other useful info. You could use {{cite web}}
- You might be able to improve layout by using {{multicol}}, perhaps
Try looking at some of our better 'discography' articles for more ideas - e.g. Bryan Adams discography, Alice in Chains discography, Phil Collins discography, Iron Maiden discography - those are all featured lists.
Hope that helps, Chzz ► 06:08, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
Dear Chzz: regarding your review:
- 1. Fixed the website. Stray comma, s/b period.
- 2.Regarding birth/death. Didn't think this needed reference as discography is part of the main page. Added reference anyway.
- 3. Regarding the second paragraph in discography essay: This is properly referenced. Only one reference is needed if a paragraph is extracted from the same source! There was one sentence from another source; it is referenced. Main reference before that sentence, and in sentence following.
- 4. Removed text regarding language in which Italian songs were sung. However, I do not agree with you that this information needed to be referenced. It is like I'm saying the "sky is blue," and you stating this needs a reference!
- 5. Referenced two mentions re Golden Globes.
- 6. Regarding your suggestion that I should look at some "better" discography articles: I looked at many before deciding on a layout. One thing that I noticed about the ones you mentioned is that some of them include a discography "essay"... which I consider essential. That is good. Most of the ones which I viewed did not have much..if any text associated. I considered that a deficiency.
- 7. Regarding using "bare URLs". I read the help section regarding format for references. The article stated that there were several formats for references. I have followed acceptable formats. Maybe..if I ever get through my first article (!), I will study the template for future use. Many of the discographies which I reviewed used VERY few references.
- As the first reviewer stated when accepting the article, a discography is a "stand-alone-List" and as such is not subjected to the same standard as other articles. I do agree that most text should be referenced, but I feel a little harrassed! As the page, guidelines, on discogrephies states...there are no rules! Every discography is unique aa is each artist! As far as IMDb goes, you say it is unreliable.. Just as Wikipedia declares itself to be unreliable! Almost every website on music has room for user editing, including MusicBrainz and AllMusic. Are they all unreliable? What I am trying to do is save the information on an important American artist that came to this country 50 years ago. It is much more difficult to find discography information on earlier artists than on the newer artists who have recorded after the internet was formed.
- Thank you for your information on the multi-column format. That is what I was trying to do on the showtunes, and the way I laid it out on my own Word page. I'll try it later, if I don't have to re-input all the information on that section. Sincerely, CatherineCathlec (talk) 00:08, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
- Used the Multicolumn Layout for show tunes, as suggested. Removed all Disambiguation manually, and removed the bot. CatherineCathlec (talk) 22:57, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

I believe I have addressed all reliability issues, layout issues, and copy editing. Would like a second review, please. Also, if there is a spell-checker out there that I can use when editing, please let me know. The one I have on IE9 doesn't work. Thanks, CatherineCathlec (talk) 23:30, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
- I have partly responded to the above in User talk:Cathlec#Second review. However, I'll leave it to another helper to assess the main query: whether or not the tags could be removed from the article. Chzz ► 13:13, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- Cathlec, I have provided the second review, and I have explained a couple of things here Zidanie5 (talk) 16:23, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
