Credibility & Notability?

[edit]

This page was created 9 November 2023‎. It refers to a little-known politician whose only significance appears to be the political crisis he has caused by alleging he is the Citizens Coalition for Change party's interim secretary-general, and that 15 CCC lawmakers elected in August were no longer party members and should lose their seats. The ZANU-PF party which has ruled Zimbabwe since 1980, first under Robert Mugabe, now under the even more authoritarian Emmerson Mnangagwa, ordered by-elections in the opposition held seats, with a court ruling that CCC opponents are not permitted to stand. Barring a Supreme Court reversal, this will likely result in a ZANU-PF supermajority able to amend the Constitution as it likes, including removal of the 2 term presidential limit.

So where's the accuracy problem in all this? The problem is Songezo Tshabangu's connection to the CCC. According to CCC leader Nelson Chamisa, 45, Tshabangu is not a CCC member, the party has no secretary general, and they have not expelled any MP. Tshabangu, who has written more letters seeking control of CCC party funds, and the recall of another 13 lawmakers, is accused of being a ZANU-PF stooge. If that claim is true, then democracy in Zimbabwe is on life support and one party rule is looming.

According to one of the references used in this article, Tshabangu played a role in the expulsion of Nelson Chamisa, the party’s founder and former president, except according to Wikipedia he remains the current President of the Citizens Coalition For Change. Likewise the Citizens Coalition for Change page recognises Nelson Chamisa as the founder and current leader of the party.

I'm also unclear on whether the sources used meet the level of credibility required by Wikipedia.

Does this page need serious reworking, or should it be slated for deletion due to lack of notability?
