The result of the move request was: moved. Per consensus, moved. Moving Sender to Sender (telephony) as discussed. (closed by non-admin page mover) – robertsky (talk) 04:03, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
– A broad-concept article on the fundamental human concept of Sending has now been created and moved to mainspace. This is immediately the primary topic for the terms Sender, Send, and Sent, so those topics can be moved (particularly "Sender", which was a surprise). BD2412 T 16:03, 12 October 2023 (UTC)
- Move Sender to Sender (circuit) or Sender (telephony), no opinion on retargeting other dabs. Hameltion (talk | contribs) 17:41, 12 October 2023 (UTC)
- I am fine with Sender (telephony) as the move target. BD2412 T 03:20, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
- Support all per nom. Egsan Bacon (talk) 19:22, 12 October 2023 (UTC)
- Move Sender to Sender (telephony), not the proposed target. Otherwise, support all the others. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 12:20, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
- SEND all of these to disambiguation pages (or telephony) per nom, and yet another feather in the cap of BD2412 Red Slash 18:11, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose. Sender is an established technical term, but article Sending appears merely a Bullshit article about a common verb. Does sending really need any explanation other than a dictionary entry? The definition in that article appears fabricated. Who says it has to be different physical locations, or for a specific purpose? kbrose (talk) 19:31, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
- The source cited in the first section (which is already more than a "dictionary entry") says that. BD2412 T 19:38, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
- ... bruh, walking, swimming, running, jumping, reading, etc. exist. There's no reason to cast aspersions like that. Red Slash 20:00, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
- I liken this to the invisible ships myth, which says that when the Spanish first arrived in Central America, the natives couldn't see the ships because they were so far outside of their experience. While untrue in that case, I think what we have here is a concept that is so fundamental to the human experience that some might not realize that it is a concept at all, much less a fundamental one. I received similar reactions when I proposed to write articles on guessing and size to replace disambiguation pages at those titles. BD2412 T 20:07, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
- Support. Half a century ago I cut my techie teeth on MFOS and IRRP and related circuits, adjusting the polarized relays to give dial pulses the correct percent make and so forth. Oof, and the senderlinks I wired and tested at the dawn of IDDD. However, they were always obscure to civilians and are now an obsolete curiosity of tech history, thus not a principal meaning of the word. Jim.henderson (talk) 13:55, 16 October 2023 (UTC)
- Support Sender (telephony) and all others. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:39, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
