Cleanup
[edit]As part of cleaning up this article, I have removed a fairly large chunk of content that, in dwelling on details like the location of a particular traffic circle, restaurant, or temple, does not appear to meet the usual standards for inclusion in an encyclopedia. It is not my intent to maliciously delete someone's well-intentioned writing about what I guess may be their home town, so I would encourage the original contributor or other interested editors to consider adding the information to a more suitable project, such as Wikicities or Wikitravel. It is preserved in the history and in the edit difference linked above, for anyone who is interested.
I'm in the process of searching for more details on the town, whose most significant historical feature appears to be its naval base.
These links may be of use in the process:
- Sembawang town home page
- Sembawang Town Council listing
- Sembawang Nat'l Park
- "Singapore" in the Columbia Encyclopedia, Sixth Ed. (references construction of Sembawang naval base)
- Singapore Naval Bases (info on use of the port in agreements between USN + Singapore)
- Info on state-owned development of Sembawang Shipyards
- Ruminations: A Trip to Sembawang (a few pictures of Sembawang Beach and some info on recent reclamation debate)
- Royal Navy Mobile Naval Operating Air Bases (aerial view of the base circa 1945, photo credit unclear, might look into getting an appropriately-licensed copy for article)

Photo
[edit]I've sent an e-mail to the [Fleet Air Arm Archive webmaster seeking additional information on the base photo's source, in an attempt to see if it's in the public domain, but am not sure what my chances of a response are. — MC MasterChef :: Leave a tip — 08:55, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
