Disambiguation needed

[edit]

It seems that this page conflates two different rivers of the same name: one a tributary of the Somme joining it at Amiens, the other a tributary of the Scheldt (Escaut) joining it at Denain. The hydrographic information in the first paragraph seems to belong to the first, while I'm pretty sure the historical information that follows refers to the second. See the French articles fr:Selle (affluent de la Somme) and fr:Selle (affluent de l'Escaut).

Now, forgive me, I'm a little rusty on this stuff. Do we want Selle to remain the page for the Somme Selle and create another page for the Scheldt Selle? Or do we combine Selle and Selle (disambiguation) and have new titles for both rivers? And what should those titles be? Most of the inward links relate to WW1 and probably refer to the Scheldt Selle. I'm not quite ready to be WP:BOLD on this one. --rbrwr± 18:30, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I just noticed the same problem and had the same question. I see the French dab does not seem to pick a main article. Both rivers are small.--Andrew Lancaster (talk) 08:56, 24 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've also decided not to rush to try doing it myself as the dab people seem to have a lot of preferences. I've tagged this article and the dab. The French articles should be handy for anyone to quickly make new articles once the titling question is resolved.--Andrew Lancaster (talk) 09:10, 24 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

SelleSelle (Somme tributary) – There are several Selle rivers in France (see French WP); none seems to be most notable; English WP has been mixing them up Andrew Lancaster (talk) 06:34, 26 May 2020 (UTC) BTW I already made the new article for the Scheldt tributary river. The French WP has a third Selle article.--Andrew Lancaster (talk) 15:13, 26 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
