International information to add/include
[edit]Would it be possible to add this sentence regarding SIA's international membership base somewhere near the top of the article? There was previously an "international presence" section, but it was out of date and now appears to have been removed.
"While the association is heavily focused on supporting the U.S. security industry, the membership includes companies from around the world, including a number of Canadian firms and many global security industry firms headquartered in Europe, North America and elsewhere." Kkleinsia (talk) 12:30, 8 July 2022 (UTC)
Suggested addition to "government relations" section
[edit]The government relations section has correct information, but most of the legislative developments/accomplishments listed are quite old. Here is a suggested paragraph to add to bring it more up to date:
"SIA’s outreach and advocacy in 2021 resulted in Senate approval of legislation adding U.S. biometrics technology developers to a new grant program supporting advanced technology development, as well as House and Senate approval of legislation providing significant new funding for federal testing and evaluation activities that support development of key industry technologies. Additionally, SIA’s engagement contributed directly to the defeat of proposals to unnecessarily restrict use of security technologies in at least five states." Kkleinsia (talk) 12:33, 8 July 2022 (UTC)
Founding date more likely 1969, not 1769, correct?
[edit]It appears the founding date is off at top of article. Michael V. Gold (talk) 22:27, 24 February 2023 (UTC)
- I concur. My research shows the same conclusion. Please make a change at your earliest convenience. 143.231.249.139 (talk) 17:59, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
Paid contributors should identify themselves here
[edit]It appears that more than one significant editor of this page is being paid by SIA. Please add Template:Connected contributor (paid) to this page as necessary. ★NealMcB★ (talk) 20:38, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
