Reminiscences
[edit]I remember that the box once had a contest to "Win a Continent". The fine print explained that the offer expires in 1947 (or something like that).
I also remember the list of ingredients was a multiple choice question. The first choice was "I don't know" The second was "I'm sure I don't know" Another choice was "Adolphe Menjou" (old movie actor from 20's to 40's) 205.161.9.9 14:32, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
Here's the poster actually selling for $100 on eBay. eBay staring bids are often uninformed flights of fancy (or traps for those who presume that they don't exceed market price). I am therefore removing the reference to the $5K starting bid. —SlamDiego 21:46, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
product may be discontinued
[edit]con-agra foods says they have no record of this product. when asked if they had any record of ever having screaming yellow zonkers, they said that someone from media relations will be in touch with me. if so, i will make a note here. Badmachine (talk) 17:08, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
- See this article, too. Looks like they're gone. ЭLСОВВОLД talk 17:12, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
- Bummer. Well, I stand corrected. I reverted myself and added a citation of the link to that article (and deleted some dead links to Lincoln Foods). If anyone has any more sourced information, or can provide sources for the (now) un-cited claim about the black packaging, please add it. Kafziel Complaint Department 18:53, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
- Perhaps something could be said about the relation of the box design to the 'black-light poster' phenomenon of the mid- to late-sixties.208.79.244.67 (talk) 14:43, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Once there was, there existed an ugly, ugly person. And what made him so ugly was that he had no tastes, not one. Then he stumbled upon a box of Screaming Yellow Zonkers and stuffed some into his face. Well, to his astoundment, they was great. Whoa, they was more than great. What they was was a magical butter glazed popcorn snack. So if you're ugly, or even semi-rotten-looking, try Screaming Yellow Zonkers. Maybe they'll change your life. Maybe not. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Edmathis (talk • contribs) 23:22, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
Lincoln Foods??
[edit]I have a first year version of a Screaming Yellow Zonkers box - 39 cents on the top flap. The side of the box shows it attributed to Ovaltine Food Products - A division of The Wander Co., Villa Park, Illinois 60181. No mention anywhere on the box of Lincoln Foods. Wondering if this is one of those classic food products where the original developer/manufacturer sold the rights to produce to product to someone else shortly after introducing it? (Similar to Quaker coming up with Sun Chips and then Frito-Lay acquiring the product.) I do remember the ConAgra connection, but never knowingly saw one of the Lincoln Foods boxes. Appreciate any insights anyone can offer. THX1136 (talk) 20:38, 16 January 2023 (UTC)
- After re-reading the article I would posit the information on Lincoln Foods to possibly be incorrect. The above mentioned box I have was purchased over Christmas vacation in 1969 in Ontario, CA. It is clearly attributed to OFP/Wander Co. Either Lincoln made the product for a very short period of time, granted rights for other manufacturers to make the product during the time stated or started making the product after OFP/Wander sold the product rights to them. - @THX1136 This is correct. My father bought SYZ's the first year they hit the shelves and the package absolutely DID specify the company that made them was Ovaltine. Unfortunately our personal experience qualifies as original research so until you can find a reliable secondary source it can't be included in the article. 2601:19E:8200:1840:CC68:BC35:7914:29E1 (talk) 20:36, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
