Contested proposed deletion
[edit]I removed the {{PROD}} which I feel is totally unwarranted. Erle's books have (AIUI) sold very well and his software is very popular and widely used. Additionally, he is a major figure in the area of open source GIS. This bio should definitely be expanded (like all stubs) but should definitely not be cut. —mako (talk•contribs) 15:34, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
- Wikipedia's inclusion criteria are much more stringent than you think. The article should be deleted, preferably under speedy-deletion criteria A7 and/or G11. The article simply doesn't cite enough sources which meet our very-stringent requirements. If someone can find enough sources which meet our requirements and which talk about him, they can contact the deleting admin and ask if the sources are sufficient. Please see the unofficial summary of our requirements. Cheers, —Unforgettableid (talk) 23:42, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
Contested deletion
[edit]This page should not be speedily deleted because Erle may have sufficient notability under the criteria on Wikipedia:Notability (people)#Creative professionals: "a significant or well-known work, or collective body of work, that has been the subject of an independent book or feature-length film, or of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews." See the Google News archive search results page for Schuyler Erle, which includes some reviews of his books. If User:Unforgettableid thinks this article should be deleted, that should be hashed out in a full Articles for Deletion process instead of a speedy deletion.
