"This term was coined by the economist Joseph Schumpeter." - I think this is wrong. The term was coined subsequently with reference to Schumpeter. Schumpeter in fact called the return from successful innovation *profits* not rents. He did refer to "quasi-rents" which would accrue to firms with temporary monopoly power, but this is a slightly different concept to the profit of the entrepreneur.

i'm quite surprised that there is no mention of the concept of first-mover advantage, as it seems to me that they are almost synonyms. or am i missing something? -- sofia (talk) 22:32, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
