Mae L. Wien Awards
[edit]Cross posted to Talk:List of Mae L. Wien Awards recipients.
There sure are a lot of Mae L. Wien awards given out. Should this be a separate list? Dkreisst (talk) 10:32, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
notability
[edit]The section was summarily deleted with the following explanation, "Award notability hardly established; all are from primary sources," which is hardly the case as the material deleted included footnotes with URLs to NY Times feature articles about the Wien Award recipients from 1992 through 2012.
Fourteen of the recipients (Amar Ramasar, Ana Sophia Scheller, Andrew Veyette, Ashley Bouder, Benjamin Millepied, Carla Körbes, Janie Taylor, Jennie Somogyi, Megan and Robert Fairchild, Sara Mearns, Stephen Hanna, Tiler Peck and Tyler Angle) are or were principal dancers with NYCB or PNB (Stephen Hanna subsequently appeared as the adult Billy Elliot on Broadway and Benjamin Millepied has been appointed artistic director of the Paris Opera Ballet.)
Eight more (Anna Liceica, Anthony Huxley, Arch Higgins, Edwaard Liang, Kathryn Morgan, Taylor Stanley, Georgina Pazcoguin and John Selya) are or were soloists with NYCB or ABT (Edwaard Liang danced in Jerome Robbins' Broadway and John Selya in Twyla Tharp's Movin' Out.)
I believe this establishes notability beyond reasonable doubt (and agree that it should be a separate list, which I will create after waiting a decent interval for further comments.) — Robert Greer (talk) 21:12, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
