Historical Accuracy
[edit]The Catechetical School of Alexandria...... ~~ There are two Article Pages of the subject where there should be just one. The School developed and grew greatly and was joined by many from East & West. It was in existence before Pantœnus, but he made it famous... The Article Page needs to be re-written. The historical beginnings and development is obscured in the two Article Pages.... MacOfJesus (talk) 15:25, 28 September 2017 (UTC)
The two Article Pages are: 1/ Alexandrian School & 2/ Catechetical School of Alexandria.... The origins of the one School go back to St Mark, Second Gospel writer, according to St Jerome....
Such an important School that developed into a seat of learning and excellence to be shrouded in obscurity gives credence to many Universities and Colleges refusing their pupils to use anything from Wikipedia... MacOfJesus (talk) 16:26, 28 September 2017 (UTC)
This is such a key Article Page..... How this School grew and developed into the one 'School' is key and the history here needs to be expanded.... There is confusion between the two Article Pages and the Historicity and development is confused... This period of History I am familiar with as you can see from my research and entries in the Article Page: Athanasius of Alexandria MacOfJesus (talk) 12:07, 6 October 2017 (UTC)
There was since Constantine onwards a growing division between the Hellenistic approach and the Coptic approach. This bitter division came to a riot in Alexandria and saw the destruction of The Catechetical School... It was in existence for two centuries.
Before the Christian period there were two great powers dominating Alexandria. There were two Libraries, one open to all and one only for the scholar as it contained early parchments....
This History is key in the understanding of the School.... MacOfJesus (talk) 01:28, 12 October 2017 (UTC)....
Very soon after St Athanasius' death in 381 the Council of Constantinople declared that their Petrarch was second only to the Pope which officially undermined the primacy of Alexandria. Alexandria had seen Babylonian occupation, Greek occupation and Roman occupation. The Egyptians felt unsupported and a mob destroyed the Catechetical School as it grew in Greek Philosophy and was seen as Greek... MacOfJesus (talk) 13:02, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
I propose then to expand the Article Page. I have a number of very different histories .... some very secular, some researched from Archaeology, some from pure history..... MacOfJesus (talk) 12:56, 13 October 2017 (UTC)
I placed in today two sections related to the seat of learning.... with references..... I stick to quoting and/or using the original texts of the references .... It is not finished as yet.... MacOfJesus (talk) 20:24, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
I now hope that the Article Page is sufficiently informative as to help the student/reader to explore and come to see the legacy of learning, here... and how power and nationalism conflicted with knowledge. For a researcher, it is a mine-field out there for there were so many using the studies to aid their own opinions. Some histories are true some false or un-true. In the book of Bojana Mojsov; Alexandria Lost, the terms used throughout the history are explained, such as Copt/Coptic and Melkite.....MacOfJesus (talk) 15:00, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
Chronological List of Deans
[edit]In the light of the history, The School was destroyed in 381...... Hence, this list must be considered inaccurate, also 'the Chair' was not called; 'Dean'.... So many different factions were claiming the Heads as favouring their opinions that writers of 'Pure History' are best suited to the Article Page.... MacOfJesus (talk) 21:19, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
Athanasius is listed as Pope along with others, this is inaccurate for he was Patriarch. He was indeed very popular and considered 'Pope'.... MacOfJesus (talk) 21:25, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
It is important for 'neutrality' reasons to avoid all accounts that are not substantiated by history.. MacOfJesus (talk) 22:12, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
I propose the deletion of this List and the one entitled Alumni... as they are obviously from a definite opinion/faction source.... MacOfJesus (talk) 09:47, 23 October 2017 (UTC)
