did movie say more about scarecrow's vendetta?

Caught the end of this movie (on TV). Article says "scarecrow was buried to stop it from killing Kristen's family to avenge a vendetta." Did movie say what Kristen's family did to scarecrow (or what did scarecrow think they did) for there to be a vendetta? And was the scarecrow a human when the wrong (or perceived wrong) happened?
