Redirects from Scarborough Beach

[edit]

Scarborough Beach should not redirect to this page. Scarborough Beach in Western Australia is of much more significance. Phenalot (talk) 07:38, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I converted the redirect to a disambiguation page. There are at least three Scarborough Beaches (UK, Australia, and US).--Ken Gallager (talk) 17:53, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

[edit]

Requested move was filled by Ken Gallager as part of standardizing naming of Maine towns. I support, but note that the closing admin will have to examine the redirect history; I see there has been a history merge somewhere along the way and I'm not sure what history is where. Requested move

[edit]
The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: pages swapped with histories, so that the article is at the un-parenthetical-qualified name. -- JHunterJ (talk) 16:41, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Scarborough (town), MaineScarborough, Maine – To simplify the article name and match standard usage. In New England, it is unnecessary to have "(town)" in the title to disambiguate from CDPs of the same name, because "Town, State" invariably refers to the entire municipality, not the "downtown" area. In all other situations in New England, the town article is named "Name, State", rather than "Name (town), State". Relisted. Favonian (talk) 10:25, 16 June 2012 (UTC).
