Talk:Sayed Gharib

I would go ahead and delete this, but the purpose of this article because:
It is linked to a live map of the situation in Iraq and Syria. The live map currently shows Sayed Gharib as contested when an operation to liberate it was launched by the Iraqi military in early December, and confirmation has been given that this has been achieved. Unless there is a good reason, Sayed Gharib should be showing as red (ISF controlled)
I cannot merge it with a current article on Sayed Gharib as there is not one existing, and I have no interest in creating a general article on the place, although it does have a bit of a history over the past 10 years.194.81.151.118 (talk) 01:11, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
Removing deletion proposal
[edit]As this is an article on a place we previously had no article on, it should be kept. Per WP:NOTNEWS I have turned it into an article on the place, rather than the latest event reported from there. --Andreas Philopater (talk) 14:09, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
Gazetteer
[edit]Could somebody with access to the Gazetteer of Iraq check page 70 for the location? I only have Google books "snippet" view. [reformatted twice] --Andreas Philopater (talk) 14:14, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
