Talk:Savannah metropolitan area
Requested move
[edit]Savannah metropolitan area → Savannah, Georgia metropolitan area – Add state to form standard article title. Buaidh 21:56, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
- Comment - Before I officially oppose, can you please explain what you mean by "to form standard article title" and provide any applicable links or diffs that support it? Why do you believe the word "state" should be added to the title? Is it because you think Savannah by itself is too ambiguous and so readers won't know it's for Savnannah, Georgia? I saw your current move request to "Tulsa metropolitan area", which obviously does not include the state in the title. Here is the list of all articles for U.S. metropolitan areas. Thanks. --76.189.111.2 (talk) 00:46, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose per the same discussions at Talk:Pensacola metropolitan area#Requested move, Talk:Tallahassee metropolitan area#Requested move and others. As with the others, there are no other metropolitan area articles for other cities named Savannah, so "Georgia" is unnecessary for disambiguation. The proposed is not a "standard article title", there are no policies or guidelines requiring it and there are plenty of articles that use the current title, such as Miami metropolitan area, Jacksonville metropolitan area, Louisville metropolitan area, and Albuquerque metropolitan area. The current form is also evidently much more common in sources; it returns 2,610 hits on Google Books compared to only 7 for "Savannah, Georgia metropolitan area".--Cúchullain t/c 15:12, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
Clarification: The preferred article title for metropolitan areas is the article title of the principal city with the lower-case words " metropolitan area" appended. Please see the List of metropolitan areas of the United States. Yours aye, Buaidh 17:47, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
Furthermore, Savannah redirects to the article about Savanna grasslands. Buaidh 21:16, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
