All issues out of copyright except October 1957
[edit]Per a search at https://cocatalog.loc.gov/, the only issue that had copyright renewed is the October 1957 issue. The other covers are all public domain. The stories may have had copyright renewed independently. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 14:25, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
Infobox
[edit]It seems that an editor added an infobox, but it was removed, and the editor was directed to the talk page to gain consensus before the addition of the infobox. I would support an infobox, but I wanted to see what the consensus was. -- Politicsfan4 (talk) 15:36, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
- I think magazine infoboxes are most useful when they can summarize useful information. Here there's very little that can be said that's helpful to the reader. The genre, editor, frequency and title all vary too much to include. Some things are fixed -- the publisher and format, for example -- but those are likely to be of little interest to a reader. I looked at the infobox that was added (this version) and I think the category of "science fiction magazine" would have to be removed. The other fields are accurate (first and last dates, country, publisher location, language), but all of that except the publisher location is clear from the first ten words of the article. If the category were removed, I think the remaining infobox would be harmless, though in my experience editors come along and try to add the other details. So I'm opposed, but not very strongly so. Italics
[edit]Should 'Web Detective Stories' be italicised in the lede section, like all the other titles? Regards, Willbb234Talk (please {{ping}} me in replies) 16:35, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, done. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 16:36, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
Robert C. Sproul
[edit]The editor of this magazine wasn’t the same person as R. C. Sproul, right? That would certainly be very weird if they were one and the same, but stranger things have happened (such as that the author of Space Relations was also headmaster of a children’s school at the time). 2604:2D80:6986:4000:0:0:0:F6 (talk) 19:42, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
- The dates make it unlikely, but in addition, R. C. Sproul's article says his father was also named Robert, but this Sproul's father was named Joe. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 19:45, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. Thanks for pointing that out. 2604:2D80:6986:4000:0:0:0:F6 (talk) 23:58, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
