Wrong description in Reproduction
[edit]Present Satsuma Kiriko is produced by SHIMADZU LIMITED, not by Shimadzu corporation. Shimadzu corparation is unrelated to Shimadzu daimyo clan and dose not have traditional art division. Major issues with the references
[edit]My name is Jonathan Bergman, I am recommending changes to this page as a part of a college class.
One of the largest errors found in the Satsuma Kiriko cut glass page is a lack of citations. Not one fact mentioned in this article is linked to the reference section, which lowers the integrity of this article.
The references themselves are also a problem. The first reference http://www.satsumakiriko.com/ does contain information about Satsuma Kiriko, but the author of the website is not clear. This can be a problem because without an author whose background can be checked, the information published on this site can be false.
The second reference http://www.shimadzu-ltd.jp/ is more problematic. There are two main issues with it. This is a company's website, which is problematic because they should be more concerned with selling products than providing factual information about Satsuma Kiriko. The bigger issue is that the website is not in English, which makes it difficult to verify any information from that website.
The final reference http://azaikazutakanosuke.com/ is of a seemingly defunct website where one can buy traditional Japanese crafts, including Satsuma Kiriko. Unlike the first two references, there isn't any historical information about Satsuma Kiriko on this website. That quite frankly makes this reference useless in the context of this article.
A lot of the information provided in the article is detailed, but proper references are needed nonetheless. University libraries, such as the American University Library have information about Satsuma Kiriko that is detailed and in English. If you don't have access to a university library, rather than use a google search, use a google scholar search on Satsuma Kiriko. On google scholar, you can find lots of information about Satsuma Kiriko.
It's not really my place to make changes to this article now, but to whoever is out there and is interested in Satsuma Kiriko, the reigns are yours. Stoopkid7 (talk) 01:50, 20 September 2016 (UTC)
