More information?

Given the shortness of the article, and this company's prominence in terms of being the world leader in synthetic fuel production (the future growth of which is largely inevitable), it can't hurt to have perhaps a little bit more info here on Sasol's history and the technologies they produce. I don't mean to include a lot of information that might have POV problems, ie biased data from the Sasol website. So I'm putting the info here for comment - and perhaps some or all of it can be rephrased in an encyclopedic syntax, by you or by me, for sometime in the future.

"The history of Sasol began in 1927 when a White Paper was tabled in Parliament to investigate the establishment of a South African oil-from-coal industry.

It was realised then that, because South Africa did not have crude oil reserves, the country's balance of payments had to be protected against increasing crude oil imports. After many years of research and international negotiations, the South African Coal Oil and Gas Corporation was formed in 1950.

From its first eight drums of creosote to the acquisition of the German CONDEA Group in 2001, Sasol is a company whose success has been founded on innovative thinking. Here is some additional info from an article already referenced on this wiki. Again, rewording is necessary to eliminate biased phrasing, but still some very valid information here:

How to spell sasol??

If someone from sasol is reading this, I'm confused as to how the branding group would like sasol to be spelled. Sasol's web page sometimes spells it in all lowercase, sometimes all upppercase (since it's an acronym) and sometimes with an initial capital S (Sasol). Since the logo is in all lowercase presukmably that's what they would prefer.

This is really irrelevant what the branding group thinks as the Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not the branding tool. The relevant policy for the spelling of Title (and the name) is WP:TITLE. Beagel (talk) 16:25, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Edit needed

The article looks very much like a series of extracts from a Sasol information pamphlet. It needs to be rewritten to include some text. There are a lot of gaps in terms of history, and what Sasol actually does - rather than the processes used.203.184.41.226 (talk) 05:09, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

Fully agree. In addition, it is very poorly sourced and not the best structured. I propose to rewrite it from the scratches, using existing information if appropriate. I tagged the article correspondingly. Beagel (talk) 15:17, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

South African Coal, Oil & Gas Corporation

SASOL was founded as the South African Coal, Oil & Gas Corporation, or the Suid Afrikaanse Steenkool, Olie en Gas Korporasie (Afrikaans), which explains the second S in the name).
