GA Reassessment

As part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles' Project quality task force, I am re-reviewing this article to ensure compliance with current good article criteria. I have determined that it doesn't meet criteria for the reasons outlined below and needs a bit of work. As it's not inconceivable that my concerns can be addressed in a relatively timely manner, I'm putting the article on hold for seven days or longer if sufficient work is done before then. The issues:

  • Unreferenced material abounds in some locations; specifically the last part of appearances, plus some misc. one-line paragraphs here and there. You can't have a one-sentence paragraph; these clauses need to be merged or else fleshed out properly.
  • Excessive nonfree image use: There's a total of five nonfree images, but many are serving only a decorative purpose, thus are non-admissible under WP:NFCC. For example, ;File:SarlaccSpore.jpg adds nothing beyond decoration of a (less than canonical) spore which is only briefly mentioned. File:BaradaandSarlaac.jpg adds nothing to aid critical commentary beyond what can be found in the other two images of the creature (the CGI additions and its original appearance.) There's some mention of a pronounced beak and tentacles for the early design of the creature, but not enough (considering we have Lucas' later interpretation) to merit the inclusion of File:SarlaccConceptArt.jpg.
  • Comprehensiveness: There's nothing about the Sarlacc's reception per se; is there nothing about the character in old film reviews, or how its CGI makeover was received. The scholarly analysis is a start, but I have a feeling that there's more to be found beyond a simple google search. From my own library I know there's an interesting bit in The science of Star wars which discusses comparisons of the Sarlacc to ant lions in their behavior and possible lifestyle. --Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 14:13, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As there's been no meaningful action on the above, I am delisting. Remember you can renominate at WP:GAN at any time you feel it meets criteria. Please direct any comments to my talk page; I don't watchlist old reviews. --Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 14:45, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
