Hi there! Thank you for your patience. I'm going to be reviewing this GAN. Any section marked with a  Working tag means I haven't finished making comments there, but feel free to start addressing my comments before I'm finished! Kncny11 (shoot) 22:18, 6 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Early years

[edit]
  • This section is usually titled "Early life."
  • At no point does reference [3] mention that Alibay Jr. was a baseball player. This needs a citation.
  • Do we know why he changed his commitment?
  • The information about his parents, siblings, and uncle should all be condensed here instead of split between here and the personal life section later on.

College career

[edit]
  • Pipe the first instance of "carry" to Carry (gridiron football)
  • Always mention what team he was playing in a specific game
  • "Large amounts of praise" is a subjective term that needs to be backed up with citations.
  • Don't link touchdown here, link it in the early life section when it's first mentioned
  • WL 2016 Penn State Nittany Lions football team
  • The description of the game against Pitt is too long, too sports journal-y, and not focused enough on Barkley.
  • In my attempt to figure out what a "long of 37" was, I found that the USA Today source doesn't mention Barkley at all.
  • WL the first instance of the Big Ten Conference.
  • Explain what the Maxwell Award is given for.
  • The Iowa article doesn't mention Barkley's yardage.
  • SB Nation is not a reliable source.
  • Rose Bowl reference doesn't mention 25 carries.
  • You need a reference for his records in rushing yards.
  • The offensive player of the week article doesn't mention his long run.
  • The ESPN box score for Iowa is just that, a box score. It doesn't mention Barkley's program record.
  • Black Shoe Diaries is part of SB Nation and thus not a reliable source.

Professional career

[edit]
  • Reference 36 (his intention to enter the NFL draft) is dead.
  • Comma after NFL Combine
  • Who did he tie with for reps?
  • WL 2018 NFL Draft
  • The last sentence talking about his draft is too long and can be split into two
  • The paragraphs for his 2018 and 2019 seasons are too long and need to be broken up for readability

 Working

Personal life

[edit]
  • WL Iran Barkley
  • References about his family can be improved. This Morning Call article uses his parents' names, while this piece from USA Today talks about his uncle.
  • The PSU source says that he has two brothers and two sisters, not three and two.
  • His younger brother Ali just committed to Cheshire Academy!
  • Mention something of his philanthropy for his niece.
  • Mention daughter's age and day of birth.
  • "At the inaugural celebration, Barkley and his family participated..."
  • Delink parade
  • "members of the league where..."
  • Italicize Hotboxin' with Mike Tyson, capitalize Hotboxin' (with the apostrophe), and WL Mike Tyson.
  • Is "doesn't believe in religion too much" a direct quote? If so, put quotes around it. If not, it's not quite encyclopedic in tone.

References

[edit]
  • Make sure to archive all references using the tool.
  • All Morning Call references need to have "|url-access=limited".

 Working

General

[edit]
  • Earwig copyvio score looks decent at 38.7%.
  • Article appears relatively stable. 3 reverts in the past month.
  • Photos are all free use and relevant.
  • Career awards and records should be in their own section between stats and personal life. See GAs Mark Sanchez and Peyton Manning for examples.

Final comments and verdict

[edit]

After finishing the section on his college career, it became obvious that I'm going to have to quick-fail this article. Multiple statements that need citations don't have them, or the attached reference doesn't actually mention what the article suggests that it does, or the reference is unreliable. To my chagrin, I'm going to have to  Fail this article for the time being, and politely ask the nominator to focus their efforts on finding reliable sources that mention all of the information in the article before bringing it back to GAN.
