Amphibious aircraft
[edit]There was also an Italian amphibious aircraft named Santa Maria that crashed while attempting a trip around the world. It looked like a catamaran and carried the pilot and copilot on one side and the mechanics on the other/ It had a two-bladed propellor in front with a four-bladed propellor (with a separate engine) in the rear. After crashing into a lake in Arizona it was recovered through efforts of the Italian community in Albuquerque. The wreckage was shipped to Italy, and one of the organizers of the recovery was knighted as a result. There is a prominent display on it at the Albuquerque International Sunport. The preceding is from memory; I have no documentation other than some photos of the exhibit. Jim (talk) 16:34, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
Sources
[edit]Various statements get added to this page (one was by an anon IP today about a song) with absolutely no sources for verification. How does one know that these are not pranks? The names of towns/cities can at least be verified with Google map searches, but a song by some less than famous band is hard to verify. I am cleaning these up. - I know there's a song called "Santa Maria" by Dutch singer/model Tatjana Simic. But I came here looking for information on a brand of Tex-Mex food by that name. Reckon I'll try Google.76.113.105.186 (talk) 01:06, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
