Wikipedia founder dispute
[edit]This is not the place for the dispute, it is a dab page. Thanks, SqueakBox 21:46, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- Show evidence that there is such a dispute in the real world. The documented fact of Wales being co-founder is only disputed by Wales himself, and by taking his position it is you who is bringing in the only "dispute" there is. Bramlet Abercrombie (talk) 21:52, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- I do not believe there is sucha dispute in the real world, though it appears there was, as wikipedia documents. What I believe is that Wales is known as the founder of wikipedia in 2008 and Sanger as the founder of Citizendium, so no, there is no dispute. Your claim that Sanger needs to be treated in 2008 as co-founder is you disputing, and I do not see anyone else doing so, other than QuackGuru. T o describe Sanger as formerly known as a wikipedia co-founder fails notability. Thanks, SqueakBox 21:58, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- At this time, Wikipedia (ranked about 8) is clearly a more important website than Citizendium (ranked about 100,000), so his Wikipedia founding role is more important than his Citizendium activity. Bramlet Abercrombie (talk) 22:02, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- I disagree because his role in wikipedia is both disputed (which is itself enough reason to keep it out of a dab page) and failing notability, its just based on a few refs from years ago. Thanks, SqueakBox 22:04, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, now it is disputed again. You just said you did not believe there's such a dispute in the real world (and the real world is all that matters). The refs are perfectly good, and not just from years ago (see the current Britannica article). Of course the primary sources are necessarily from 2001, because that's when the event in question (the founding of Wikipedia) happened! An important event doesn't "fail notability" because it took place years ago. Bramlet Abercrombie (talk) 22:11, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
