Tone
[edit]I placed a 'tone' tag on this article. Most of it seems okay, but the paragraph which tands out is the one which contains:
- "..Recruited by the Sydney Swans as a rookie using their zone allocation, the athletic long haired Wheeler frequently exhibited some dash and flair off the wing and as a rugged rebounding defender off the half back flank. His quick run and hard tackling were trademarks of his game. However his disposal skills let him down and he had a tendency to...".
Could somebody please help translate "dash and flar off the wing" and "rugged rebounding defender off the half back flank". Would it be sufficient to say that he displayed abilities in playing the game? And are these details particularly encyclopedic anyway? I'm not necessarily saying that the information should be removed, but it would elp if somebody could make it more encyclopedic and less POV.
- "He displayed abilities" wouldn't say anything. Obviously he displayed ability, having played at the top level. Readers might want to know about the type of abilities he displayed and his specific skills or strengths.
- "Dash and flair off the wing" means he was quick, agile and played creatively in areas of the field that were roughly midway between ends of the field (one end being the location of the goals his team was defending and the other end being the location of the goals where his team was attempting to score), and towards the left or right boundaries of the field or at least to the left or right of the part of the field that is directly in a line between the goals his team was defending and the goals where his team was attempting to score. In context, "rugged rebounding defender off the half back flank" means that he welcomed and/or sought hard physical contact, such as in tackling, blocking opponents and otherwise competing in close proximity to other players, but also was proactive and/or aggressive in bringing the ball from the defensive area of the field (where the opposing team had opportunity to score) towards the end of the field where his own team would have opportunity to score; and that he did this from a position on the field that was roughly midway between the goals his team was defending and the middle of the field, but towards the left or right boundaries of the field in that area, or at least to the left or right of the part of the field that is directly in a line between the goals his team was defending and the goals where his team was attempting to score. --Jacknstock (talk) 05:33, 17 November 2012 (UTC)
