Sandile's Caves
[edit]I saw that there is no mention of a particular landmark touted "Sandiles Cave". It is of particular interest as this was a hideout during the pursuit by British & Colonial Forces during the 9th Frontier War. I have hiked the trail a number of times (though not in the last decade or so now) and entered these claustrophobic chambers. I am unsure of how long Sandile took shelter in the Amathole Mountains, but there are wildlife such as duiker and wild boar so I can imagine he would have been able to survive by hunting. Perhaps I'd do well to visit the Museum to see if I can find any literature on the matter. I will leave this link to show an image of the beginning of the trail: https://www.ectour.org.za/listing/amatola_hiking_trails 105.224.226.184 (talk) 17:59, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
