Accused of rape

[edit]

As the captain of the national team and a well-known player of t20 leagues around the world, Lamichhane is not a private individual. All the national news sources are covering the investigation and as such major developments are WP:DUE in the article, especially now that he has been suspended by CAN, and the police is seeking to immediately return him to Nepal for arrest.

Some "journalist"s are going to try and identify the complainant (unnamed 17-year-old girl) and make information about her public; some have already. However, she is protected by our WP:BLP policy both as a private individual and as a minor. So, please do not add her name or any other personal details to the article. If someone adds it, remove it immediately without advertising it in the edit summary, and contact WP:OS for suppression from history. Thanks! Usedtobecool ☎️ 14:17, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Special:Diff/1257332896 Wanted to open up discussion regarding the recent revert of allegations regarding Lamichhane. As mentioned in a previous topic, notable sources have covered the investigation and subject is a public figure. At the same time, WP:ONUS and WP:BLPRESTORE indicates a careful review of the material is important. Therefore I would like to seek the input of more experienced editors to determine whether the content merits inclusion and if edits/rewrites may be needed to better fit Wikipedia's policies. The IP’s reason for removal of the information was that because he was declared innocent the whole section should be removed, I fail to see how this constitutes a "good-faith BLP objection". The whole section is within WP:BLP as it is fully sourced and written in neutral tone, four different editors reverted the blanket removal on those grounds. The IP has failed to address any specific issues with the section, that simply object to any mention of it being there. By 'covering up' these allegations the article is unbalanced and I have tagged it accordingly. JP (Talk) 09:03, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
