Why does John from Idegon have control over this page?
[edit]Recently looked at the logs and noticed he removed Ben Curry's drowning and while I agree that the suicide portion should've been removed(the tapes looked like he just drowned due to teacher negligence) I still believe that if a student drowns it should be on the wiki page.
Ultimately I'm just confused on why some dude called John has so much interest and control over a wikipedia page about a bay area school? A student drowning is much bigger and more important than finding some Indian Burial ground, yet he removed it?
School Athletics
[edit]If Academics are included why are sports not? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thexumaker (talk • contribs) 05:55, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
- Because no one has created one. Before you do, it would probably be helpful to also read the links at the right hand side of the template at the top of this page. Be advised that your addition of a youth hockey team that has no association with the school is not going to happen. Besides being off topic and wildly promotional, it was completely out of guidelines and poorly sourced. Not that it matters. Just because several children from this school belong to the same club that is not associated with the school in any way does not mean that club should be mentioned here. Many of my friends growing up had membership cards to the Chicago Motor Club. That doesn't mean a discussion of it should be included in my alma mater's Wikipedia article. Thanks. The article clearly has problem, and the goal of wikipedia is to inform the web about topics. And the hockey team can be an identifying feature of a school. It broke no guidelines, and only brought more knowledge about the school. I mean you allow something about a indian tribe but not school athletics. You have no consensus, and I will continue on with my movement — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thexumaker (talk • contribs) 23:47, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Thexumaker: Wikipedia is designed to "inform the web," but it is not an indiscriminate collection of information. This is especially true since your edits are either
- heavily biased toward a single sports team while the school has multiple,
- temporary information such as a roster, which is not present on any other article of a high school (that I've ever seen, and I've seen :plenty, but feel free to raise exception), or
- purely disruptive act of vandalism such as "David X.,"
- I hope I will not have to send a similar post in the future. Timothy G. from CA (talk) 06:18, 16 May 2016 (UTC)
