Moving

FYI: SanDisk will be moving to Milpitas in 2007, according to their own annual report (someone I know holds a few hundred shares and I happened to see the report recently). The report specifically says that they signed a lease for a new complex in Milpitas in January 2006. When SanDisk's address changes on their Web site, this article will have to be updated too. --Coolcaesar 20:40, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

The sansa page should lead here

The Sansa page currently makes no mention of the mp3 player. I was forced to leave wikipedia to find out that the Sansa is made by SanDisk. Mathiastck 21:20, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Have you ever tried checking the back of your sansa?, on some of them it says 'SanDisk' on the front too FinalWish 23:29, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Sandisk Logo.jpg

Image:Sandisk Logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

USB Flash Drives

It would be nice to create subsections under "USB Flash Drives" for each family of drives. The list seems unorganized as it is.

Company name origin?

-Sans is French for "Without". Without-disk, as in without rotating media? -San because Sanjay Mehrotra is a founder? -Both? 96.38.249.66 (talk) 14:11, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

LOL

I thought the Golden Peacock Award for Corporate Social Responsibility was some kind of vandalism humor given that it is unreferenced (and reminds of WP:PEACOCK) but apparently it's a real, non-humorous award. I don't know if it's notable though. Someone not using his real name (talk) 22:27, 25 December 2013 (UTC)

incorrect assertion that SD is an 'Israeli-American' corporation

I looked on SanDisk's webpage (in the 'About' page) and nowhere does it say it is an 'Israeli-American' company. In its press releases, market communications etc., the company does not describe itself as an 'Israeli-American' company. In talks given by senior SanDisk execs e.g Eli Harari, they do not describe the company as 'Israeli-American.' So please stop edit warring on this issue. Stop inserting the phrase 'Israeli-American' into the lead of the article, and instead discuss the issue here. If you can't build a consensus on the talk page that the phrase 'Israeli-American' should be included in the lead, and you continue to include it despite all evidence to the contrary, your behavior will be reported. Thanks. IjonTichy (talk) 17:27, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

By your own admission the company does not describe itself as israeli or american. and accordingly, Wikipedia should not describe the company as either israeli or american. especially in the lead section of the article. Wikipedia goes by how the company officially describes itself, on its own official website, not by how some people choose to describe it in some newspaper(s). the company does not describe itself as israeli or american, and Wikipedia will not describe the company differently than what the company itself officially describes itself. Wikipedia is not some robotic machine that repeats exactly everything that newspapers say. That's why Wikipedia has human editors, not robots. Wikipedia editors are required to apply human-based judgement and rational thinking to our edits, and not blindly or automatically cite everything some newspapers choose to publish. Please see Wikipedia:Editorial judgement, and Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Weight. When it comes to describing the country of the company (or lack of country), the official website of the company carries much more Weight than some random newspapers.
I will not object to a statement in the body of the article, but not in the lead, saying something like 'some sources describe SanDisk as an Israeli-American company, although the company's website and official corporate communications do not describe the corporation as such.' However, you can expect that perhaps some other Wikipedia editors may (or may not) object to including such a statement. Thanks and regards, IjonTichy (talk) 17:51, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

source claiming the compact flash was the first memory card in a size that fit into cell phone pda and digital camera.

in this article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_card#History it saying " Since 1994, a number of memory card formats smaller than the PC Card arrived, the first one was CompactFlash later SmartMedia and Miniature Card. The desire for smaller cards for cell-phones, PDAs, and compact digital cameras drove a trend that left the previous generation of "compact" cards looking big." and to prove it was the compact flash that first fit into pda digital camera and cell phone it saying after it "In digital cameras SmartMedia and CompactFlash had been very successful" proving the compactflash had already installed in digital cameras. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.183.117.140 (talk) 16:29, 28 November 2015 (UTC)
