Dubious tag

After some consideration, I doubt Witte's statement that Polyakov was a convert [1]. More reliable info needed. NVO (talk) 09:51, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Fault

It stands in this article as:

...the "most famous railroad king"[1] of the Russian Empire, the senior member of the Polyakov business family, a philanthropist and a Jewish civil rights activist...


Well, the senior member of the Polyakov business family may be called either Yakov Polyakov, the eldest son (born 1832, see the ruwiki article Поляков, Яков Соломонович) or (it would be more correctly) Solomon Polyakov, the father. He was the merchant of the first guild (ibidem). The first guild is the very high grade.
