[edit]I have expanded this stub. As I've done with other The Wiggles pages, I have completely overhauled this page--cleaning up the content, citing sources, fixing the references. If there's any more info out there about Sam, please go ahead and add it. Figureskatingfan 19:24, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Sam's birthplace
[edit]It should be mentioned that Sam was actually born in Sydney, not in Wagga Wagga, as has been stated repeatedly. Sam's parents were living in Sydney at the time of his birth but moved to Wagga Wagga sometime before the birth of his sister two years later; because of his young age at the time of the move, his birth has often been misreported as having been in Wagga Wagga. —Preceding unsigned comment added by RavShimon (talk • contribs) 03:36, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- The Wiggles webpage states that Sam grew up in Walla Walla, and moved to Sydney to study music. The Daily Advertiser, which the article cites, states that he was born in Walla Walla, and since it's a reliable source, that's what Sam's bio reports. --Figureskatingfan (talk) 04:53, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- You mean Wagga Wagga and not Walla Walla? Bidgee (talk) 07:20, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- Oops, yes, sorry. How embarrassing is that? My only excuses are major sleep deprivation, and the fact that I'm an Ugly American. Oh, and I live in the US Northwest, mere miles from Washington State. --Figureskatingfan (talk) 15:12, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, I've just come across a RS—a Sydney Morning Herald article from just after his "promotion"—which correctly reports that Sam was born in Sydney and grew up in Wagga Wagga. As such, I'll be editing the article accordingly and attempting to reference the source. I'm still relatively new at the source adding, though, so if it fails assistance would be appreciated. RavShimon (talk) 00:03, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
- The Sydney Morning Herald article is fine and is a reliable source. Thank you for finding a source and adding it to the article. Bidgee (talk) 01:10, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, my wife was the one who made that last edit; I had left Wikipedia signed in on our computer and I don't think she even realised I have an account. She just happened to see the information on Sam and knew personally it was incorrect, so she changed it accordingly. I explained to her about the whole "need for sources" bit, so she got on-line and refused to rest until she found something that would show his correct birthplace. And there it is.
- No, she's not obsessive; she's just related to him. RavShimon (talk) 03:45, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
Rav, perhaps your wife is related to me as well. ;) I wonder if the solution to this problem about Sam's birthplace would be to request that The Wiggles make the correction on their webpage. Hey, any of you Aussies who hang out with the guys, would you mind asking them the next time you see them? Oh, and ask them to tour closer to my residence (Moscow, Idaho), so that we can take the kids to see them again? ;)
You might have noticed that I used the article Rav's wife found to make some changes to the article. (It needed some cleaning up, anyway.) It looks like there are some things I could use to improve Greg's page, and the main Wiggles article, which I will do at a later time. I've learned, as I've become a better and more experienced editor, to glean valuable information from sources more effectively. So Rav, tell your wife: Good on ya, mate! Oh, and get her to create an account, will ya? ;) --Christine (talk) 17:28, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
Suggested merger with Lyn Moran
[edit]Lyn Moran is notable in her own right. I suggest keeping the separate articles. gidonb (talk) 18:51, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
- I've remove the Merger proposal since it was requested in December 2008 and no reason was given by the requester. Bidgee (talk) 02:29, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
- Good. Thank you! gidonb (talk) 05:26, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
Moran To Go To Samoa on Summer Vacation
[edit]Today, it was announced that Sam and his wife Lyn are going to Apia, Samoa in the summer of 2014. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.56.28.96 (talk) 16:21, 13 April 2014 (UTC)
- That's nice but unless there's something important to his career, it doesn't need to be added here. WP:NOTDIARY. -AngusWOOF (talk) 22:29, 13 April 2014 (UTC)
Merged from Play Along with Sam
[edit]I've merged Play Along with Sam to this article as it doesn't have much to say about the TV series other than what I've dug up about awards. If there are significant details on the series to spin it off, please fill it out again. -AngusWOOF (talk) 21:09, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
Updates
[edit]Updates about his second child with new partner (announced on both of his official ticked social media pages) were added and then removed, rendering current wiki page out of date. [1],[2]Cite error: There are <ref>
tags on this page without content in them (see the help page).

- User:TwentyEighteen2018, it was probably I who removed your additions. Here's why: Wikipedia has strict policies regarding using reliable sources. Please read WP:RS. Please pay particular attention to this section of that policy, WP:RSSELF, which states: "Self-published books and newsletters, personal pages on social networking sites, tweets, and posts on Internet forums are all examples of self-published media." I did a short Google search, and wasn't able to find anything in the media about the birth of Sam's child. I suspect that it will hit the papers eventually; I recommend waiting until that happens before we add the information. Yes, that will mean for that period of time, this article will be out of date, but it's more important to be accurate and follow WP policies. I'll leave it to you to remove the information, but if you don't, I'll change it the next time it comes to my attention. Oh, I also moved your comment to a new section; see WP:TPYES for more information about etiquette on talk pages. Thanks. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 04:46, 10 October 2020 (UTC)
