I will be picking up the review of this one - both for the Wiki Cup and the GA cup as well. I will be making my review comments over the next couple of days.

Side note, I would love some input on a couple of Featured List candidates, Mexican National Light Heavyweight Championship and NWA World Historic Welterweight Championship. I am not asking for Quid pro Quo, but all help is appreciated.  MPJ-US  03:44, 11 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • @MavsFan28: - leaving my first round of feedback.

GA Toolbox

[edit]

I like to get this checked out first, I have found issues using this that has led to quick fails so it's important this passes muster.

Peer review tool
  • WP:LEAD - too short, article of this size should have 3 paragraphs if it's going to qualify for GA
  • Could one of the pictures of Cassell be moved to the Info box, always makes the article look better if there is a picture in the infobox
Copyright violations Tool
  • TBD
Disambiguation links
  • No issues Green tickY
External links
  • The tool has hit upon several issues
  • 4 links are dead - highlighted in red in the tool
  • 1 link is probably dead - highlighted in orange
  • 2 links have connection issues - highlighted in blue
  • 2 links require subscription, please indicate this in the reference data - highlighted in yellow
  • 4 links truncate to a shorter url, not the specific article - highlighted in yellow

Well Written

[edit]
Lead
  • "championships, and won" does not need the comma
  • I see four sources in the lead, there should not be any source in the lead section, but applied where the main article covers the statements of the lead - nothing in the lead should be stated only there.
College
  • The section is totally void of any dates until the 1992-93 senior year, when did he graduate? Attend MCI etc.?
  • "post graduate" should be "post-graduate" if I am not mistaken. I know "post graduate" is technically "after graduation" but I think the phrase is being misapplied here since there is also "post-graduate work", which is not after graduating high school.
  • Is there a link to the "Proposition 48 Standards" the text mentions?
  • No source for this time at San Jacinto College?
Houston Rockets (1993–1996)
  • "notably dropping 22 points" to informal a phrase
  • "22 points and seven assists in a game 7" - "seven" should be "7" since all other numbers are spelled out.
  • Only one single source on the entire second season?
  • "Rockets were swept out of the second round of the playoffs" again too informal in tone.
  • "Rockets management feared their window of winning another championship with Olajuwon, Drexler and Smith was closing, and looked to trade for another star caliber player." needs a source, it's subjective and definitly needs something to back it up,
Dallas Mavericks (1996–97)

The statement on his chemistry with the coach and "an opportunity that they could not pass up" does not seem to be in reference [14]?

New Jersey Nets (1997–1999)
  • "Cassell played for just that season." should be "Cassell played for in that season."
Milwaukee Bucks (1999–2003)
  • "'eight player" should be "eight-player"
  • The sentence starting with "On March 3, 2001, he scored his career-high of 40 points" is totally unsourced.
Minnesota Timberwolves (2003–2005)
  • The source, [22], does not actually call them "the best trio", it does say "highest scoring" that's not necessarily the same. And it definitely does not support the statement "widely considered". That is not neutral, needs to be restated appropriately.
  • "again dropping 40 points" the term "dropping" is too informal
  • "late-game heroics" is not neutral, should be stated what, have the actions speak for themselves.
  • "Cassell however sustained" remove the word "however"
  • The sentence starting with "The following year, the Timberwolves finished" is unsourced.
Los Angeles Clippers (2005–2008)
  • "traded after three unproductive yet overpaid seasons" overpaid is a judgement call, not a neutral statment and there is no source directly behind such a negative statement.
  • "injuries that season, and the Clippers" does not need a comma
Boston Celtics (2008)
  • "6 p.m. ET" if that is "Eastern Time" then the appropriate abbreviation is "EST" (Eastern Standard Time)
  • "a poised move" what exactly does that mean?
  • This section is longer and more detailed than several previous sections where he had major success, that seems lopsided and uneven.
  • Reference 54, and 55 does not seem to support the claim of "arguably the best bench" or that Cassell was even a key part of the bench
  • "a NBA-best 66–16 record" does that record still stand? Perhaps a "then NBA-best"?
Assistant coach
  • "assistant coach under Flip Saunders of the Washington Wizards" should be "assistant coach of the Washington Wizards under Flip Saunders"
Media
  • I have no idea what "the paint" and "the wings" are? any links to help us out?

Broad in coverage

[edit]
  • It's 99% basketball, 1% personal life - and that's also only mentioned in a basketball reference. To me that's not broad enough, we need something about sam Cassell the man, not just the Basketball player Red XN

Stable

[edit]
  • I see some vandalism etc. but no contend disputes or anything like that to indicate instability. I also do not see any issues on the talk page beyond lame "he looks like an alien" comments. Vandalism aside I see no recent problems.

  • @MavsFan28: - It has been a total of 9 days since the review started and four days since I made my final review comment and I have not seen any activity. One more day with no activity I'll be forced to fail this for inactivity.  MPJ-US  21:07, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • @MPJ-DK: Apologies, I haven't had any free time lately. I understand why it failed the check, but really appreciate the feedback you left and I'll be sure to utilize it in improving this article long term. Thanks, MavsFan28 (talk) 03:36, 4 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
