Dear 202.138.112.252: While I don't disagree that:
- "The school (i.e. Holy Cross Matriculation Higher Secondary School) is known for its allround developments of students",
I believe that such a statement requires a verifiable source to be considered appropriate for Wikipedia. Otherwise, it will be suspected of being merely "original research". I will delete this sentence, although you are welcome to restore it, if you provide an appropriate source. --BostonMA 13:56, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Biased
[edit]Many writers of this article are seems to be so biased and they highlight even a very common thing as a speciality to the town. Roads and related traffic are one such subject which is given more importance. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Asprakash (talk • contribs) 16:25, 19 January 2007 (UTC).

Delete "Modern Theatres Section"?
[edit]I'm thinking about deleting this whole section. It doesn't add anything to the article about the city - just details about that company. Skumarla (talk) 06:42, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

Population of Salem in 2011
[edit]The population shown in the wiki page seems to be lesser than the actual population reported in census (http://www.geohive.com/cntry/in-33.aspx). I have modified the intro section, but did not modify the table listing. It will be great if someone could verify which of the information is right - the website or the existing wiki information. lokirockz 18:04, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
Number of Councilors
[edit]The article presently says that there are 72 wards, each with an elected councilor, but describes the council as having 60 members. Unless two different councils are meant, there should be 72 councilors if there is one for each of 72 wards.Bill (talk) 04:06, 17 October 2020 (UTC)

Thank you. ★ Writter18 ★←talk→ 08:00, 27 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Writter18 I believe population data here were always from the government census. Do we have reliable private sources for city populations? - SUNEYE 1 08:41, 27 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Suneye1: I don't how many of private sources are reliable. I checked out more sources across web, but one is differ with other. Every one of private sources shows different count. By no other way, I looked out for official portal and I updated. Can you be supported for me in this issue. You can check the population of required districs/cities/towns here. Thank you! ★ Writter18 ★←talk→ 08:52, 27 January 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, I don't think any other source apart from the official census are reliable for population data. I've only seen the government census data used in articles about locations. - SUNEYE 1 12:19, 27 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Suneye1: Can I know what is your stand in population of Salem and even other cities as per official portal? ★ Writter18 ★←talk→ 06:02, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
- I believe only the government census data should be used for population for Wikipedia because I haven't seen anyother sources used for the same. - SUNEYE 1 06:30, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
