Obama Lion Dance (Shishi-mai)
[edit]This fact has a verifiable source:
- The Lion Dance (Shishi-mai) is a still-popular folk dance imported to Wakasa from Mushu-Kawagoe (Kawagoe, Saitama Prefecture) by Sakai Tadakatsu when he and his descendants were first granted the han of Obama in the early 17th century. Three lions move heroically and elegantly to the accompaniment of music played on Japanese flutes.<:ref>Obama Shrine: Festivals in May. Jonai, Obama-shi.</ref>
The following short video might be plausibly helpful in bringing the Lion Dance to life, but is the migration of a folk dance from eastern to western Honshu and the (Tottori Prefecture/non-Wakasa province) connection close enough to be relevant in this Obama Domain context?
- Inaba no Kirin Shishi-mai (因幡の麒麟獅子舞): lion dance
I was uncertain, and so I'm asking for feedback here. --Tenmei (talk) 12:52, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
