Le Castellas

[edit]

Although I had read that the ruins on the hill were called "le Castellas", when I called it that to a resident on the town, he responded with "le chateau". That is a small sample, but I wonder about how widespread "le Castellas" is any more, as standard French has largely displaced the Occitan language of the area. -- Donald Albury 22:11, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Le Castellas" is actually the name of this castle and not just a descriptive term. So it could be called "le château" since that's a descriptive term, but its name is indeed "Le Castellas". Just as you could call the Mississippi "the river". Micoucou (talk) 15:51, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
