Questionable
- "Yūichirō Kumada, a good-natured vagrant..."
What is the source for this? Doesn't episode 34 (Japanese) imply that Yuuichiro is not a vagrant, since he has access to a place to stay owned by his parents? Ken Arromdee 19:30, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
- No, that was the 34th English episode. Denelson83 21:35, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
Princesses Article
Just so you all know, I've made a new article at Princesses (Sailor Moon). The merge notices are gone now, because that group of stubs has been cleared up. Now that it's done, please feel free to edit and cite to your heart's content! ^_^ -Masamage 20:52, 27 July 2006 (UTC) Bold text
Consistency: Mercury's Profile as a template
Because of the problem of consistency between Senshi profiles, it's been proposed that we make one profile into a template for all the others. Currently, that one profile is Ami Mizuno's. Any changes to the general format of Senshi articles should be made there, and then copied to all the others. This plan is very preliminary, however, so for more information or to make a comment, please see the appropriate section of the series Talk page, so that everyone else can see what you have to say!
So far I have edited the hero box and lead section, and have added a Sailor Mars section. Changes that remain to make it consistant with Sailor Mercury are to change the 'Personality' section to a 'Profile', containing personality as well as history, school, family situation, and other info. This should be followed by 'Other forms', which in her case will mention only Princess Mars. The Statistics should then be updated to match Ami's--anything that doesn't fit can be written in prose in the Profile. Powers should be moved up into the next slot and reformatted, "Fandom" should be removed entirely (it is not encyclopedic), and the 'character' section should be divided between the Profile and a new 'Variations' section.
It's extensive! But it's mostly a reorganization, and little if any information will be lost. I think it will improve the entire Sailor Moon area of Wikipedia to have all the article match up in this way. If you have comments about Rei's article specifically, post them here; if you have comments about the entire Consistancy project, post them in the series Talk page as stated above. Thank you, everyone! --Masamage 21:57, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- Phew! Okay, I've done everything on that to-do list except for reorganizing the Personality and Character sections into Profile and Variations sections, as seen in the Ami Mizuno article. I'm unfamiliar with the exact names and appearances of the attacks, so that section needs a lot of help, especially the PGSM bit. I'll attack the remaining changes later--it's time for a break. o_o --Masamage 22:46, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand it's done. I hope that nobody is bothered by my having made such extensive edits--if you are, please say so here, and do remember that all previous versions are archived! Thanks. ^___^ --Masamage 00:19, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
Clean up
I only did clean up for the stats (added refs too). I noticed someone tried to add in Strong Point-- this is from the Irwin boxes, which we have no references for! In either case doing the stats in full will be complex because the categories are different from manga and dub... Debatable on whether to keep dub stats anyhow. Just a few more to go!--Hitsuji Kinno 07:54, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- That was me - Ami had a strong point, so I figured Rei must have one, somewhere. How the heck do you reference a toy box anyway??? - Malkinann 08:07, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- I'm working on it. *grins* I requested someone with the toy boxes scan the back of the toyboxes and then post them. I know I'm nuts, but I used to do this for my own Sailor Moon pages. I said if they couldn't scan them in for whatever reason to give us the UPC codes for the boxes (which are kind of like ISBNs for the book references). Then we can figure out dates and treat it kind of like a book. ^_^ I also asked them to verify the stats if they could, though I told them we would prefer a scan. (I gave them a little incentive too.) ^^;; A bit naughty, but since I'm after primary references it's not a bad thing. --Hitsuji Kinno 22:15, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Rattleman, Why did you change the image of her attacking?Lego3400: The Sage of Time 01:24, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
- My guess is because it shows more than just her face. --Masamage 03:25, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
POV?
Rei is the traditional Japanese beauty--delicate features, pale skin, and long, shining dark hair.
I think this is a touch POV. Also physical descriptions shouldn't be needed if there are images on the page. What exactly is the point of adding it? People can see/judge for themselves and see if they agree. Plus the physical descriptions often change version to version and over time and sometimes just image to image. (Not to mention the outfits...) --Hitsuji Kinno 22:19, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- I understood it to be part of the intention behind her character design. Also, how many different places are you going to post your complaint over the descriptions? :P --Masamage 23:32, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- Luna even suspects that she could be the Moon Princess because of her beauty, elegance, and spiritual devotion. It's a pretty big deal... Even if Luna suspects every female of being the Moon Princess early on. ;) - Malkinann 05:26, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
First Appearance
I just watched Act 2 of PGSM and Rei appears at the end, right before the next episode preview. Eventhough Rei isn't formally introduced until Act 3, Ami wasn't formally introduced until Act 2 and yet her page says she first appears in Act 1, so I'm going to keep the two consistent. Kakashi-sensei 12:01, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- Great catch! I had totally forgotten about that. Thank you for fixing it. :) --Masamage 22:48, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Ami is mentioned in act one and is seen in class Lego3400: The Sage of Time 17:00, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
- Her article is already fixed. --Masamage 19:45, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
Fire Attack
Although her attack is to shoot fire, it's the Fire of the Forces of Good, but the villians that shoot fire is the Fire of the Forces of Evil. What is the episode where in the beginning, Sailor Mars shot out a fire to make the other Sailor Senshi dance around in it? --PJ Pete
- You really need to stop asking these mundane questions. Anyway, I think you're talking about Episode 43/38, "Is Usagi Going it Alone? The Sailor Warriors Get Into a Big Fight" or "Fractious Friends". All the Senshi are chasing Moon until Mars uses a fire attack that backfires, setting the ground on fire below them. The Senshi move their feet fast to avoid the fire, or what you would call "dancing". Once again, please stop with the questions. -- RattleMan 23:49, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
Rei's school
According to WikiMoon and its own page, Rei's school is based on the real life school, Toyo Eiwa Jogakuin. So I'm thinking that "T*A" is just the pronunciation of "T" from the first word and "Ei" from the second word, and does not, in fact, stand for anything. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 09:12, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- Nice; that sounds very plausible. I'd love to know whether or not the dub really called it Thomas Aquinas School, too. --Masamage 21:22, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- I don't think that her school was ever mentioned by name in the dub. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 08:27, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe the manga? Maybe some random fanfic. X) --Masamage 08:34, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
- The manga only calls it T.A. Nuns run it, maybe the dub got there the idea for calling it (if they did) the Thomas Aquinas School. Raystorm 14:55, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
Good article?
Are there any significant differences between this and Ami Mizuno that might stop it from also being rated GA class? --Masamage ♫ 17:18, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
- Guess not. Nominating. :) --Masamage ♫ 17:17, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
- Woah, I missed this! Maybe we should discuss GA noms at WT:SM in future. We've got nothing on her dub personality, and there was a romance between Rei and Jadeite in the musicals, and there was allegedly an implication that Jadeite had the hots for Rei in the manga. -Malkinann 01:06, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
- Sou ka. Well, it took three weeks to get reviewed last time, so we should be able to get some good work done before then. The romance mention should be really easy, just a slightly altered copy-pasted from Ami. And yes, in the manga Jadeite says that he was attracted to her from the first time he saw her. --Masamage ♫ 01:33, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Where in the manga? Can you find it? Raye's meanness:
- http://www.sailormoon.org/faq/smfaq7.shtml "The explanation for Mars having the wand was _completely_different_. She was _given_ the wand by Sailor Moon, and pointed out to the other Scouts that if they really hated each other, Sailor Moon would never have trusted her with it. Sailor Moon certainly did not leave it in her room by mistake, and they were _not_ arguing over this at the end of the episode. Yes, this means that Mars doesn't hate Moon, exactly the opposite from what this _bad_ dub implied." -Malkinann 01:43, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
- Act 3. Alex Glover's translation is that Jadeite finds her unconscious and says, "So beautiful. I've been attracted to her since I first saw her, this girl." In the Mixx version it's "There's something special about her" or something like that. Anyway, she toasts him in the end. --Masamage ♫ 06:11, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
- I took a shot at incorporating the meanness stuff. How's it look? --Masamage ♫ 16:39, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Rei's sexuality
I reverted the addition of information about the fan-debate over whether Rei is a lesbian for a few reasons. One is that these articles were full of that kind of stuff a few months ago, and it always gets really weird really fast, with mentions of specific who-on-who pairings and so forth. Second, if you boil that section down to its core points, it says "Some people think Rei must be a lesbian. But she's not." All this does is introduce a point (without any sources) and then refute it (also without any sources. The series never says she's not). Third, when characters in this show are gay, we make a point of it (a la Michiru, Haruka, Fisheye, Zoisite, Kunzite), so there's really no worry about people thinking that maybe Rei is, since we never said she's not. Finally, it felt a little bit like undue weight.
That is my story. Just thought I would explain. --Masamage 03:18, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Hikawa Shrine
I went looking for the *specific* Hikawa shrine and there are at least 6 different Hikawa shrines, in addition 3 of them are in Minato-ku alone. --;; There is only one in Azabu Juuban though. It might be good to specify... 氷川神社(東京都港区元麻布)is the one in Azabu...
Oh and Takeuchi-sensei said she worked as a Miko at another shrine... Shiba dai-jinja. is that worth mentioning? (I have the reference.)--Hitsuji Kinno 05:39, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- Cool, thanks. I've noted at the list of locations that there's more than one Hikawa shrine, including one in Azabu Juuban, and put in the original kanji. (I left out the parenthetical part because it's just the location, which we're already talking about. Unless you think it needs to be in there?)
- I think it would be cool to mention that Takeuchi was a miko. What's the ref? --Masamage ♫ 18:15, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- http://www.kurozuki.com/takeuchi/sailormoon/volume03.html "It's because Princess Naoko worked part-time as a maiden at Shiba Daijingu Shrine when she was in college."
- The official website is here: http://www.shibadaijingu.com/ Incidentally Shiba means lawn or soil. O.o;; I don't think you can do divination with lawns...
- Also add this, since it's the original book <ref>{{cite book |last= Takeuchi |first= Naoko | title= Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon shinsouban Volume 3 |chapter= Act # |publisher= [[Kodansha]] |date= October 23, 2003 |id= ISBN 4-06-334783-4 }}</ref>
- She also mentions that Rei's name was going to be Yoruno Rei (same volume), rather than Hino, but I don't know if that's worth noting either.
- There are a lot of silly and funny notes there... But then I'm in love with Takeuchi-sensei's liner notes...--Hitsuji Kinno 21:34, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- It's kind of a toss-up, as the appearance of the Hikawa Shrine varies wildly between different versions of the series. The one in Azabu Juuban - the Bishamonten Hikawa Shrine - is really small and the basis for the manga one. The anime version is significantly bigger and more closely resembles the one in the Akasaka district (though the overall resemblance between the fictional and real-life counterparts is not nearly as striking as in the former case). Though it can't be conclusively proven, I think that the grounds of the anime Hikawa Shrine might actually partially occupy what would be the grounds of the Zenpuku-ji temple in the real world, with an eastwards-facing entrance directly connected with the Azabu Juuban district and a small lake somewhere in between. Casablanca Memory
Rereading Volume 11, where Casablanca Memory is, the page before the actual story starts has a short narrative by Naoko. It states that Casablanca Memory might have been influenced by Michie Tomizawa's favourite flower, Casablanca. Apparantly when the seiyu and Naoko were having lunch in a hotel somewhere near Shiba park (not there anymore according to the narrative) Kotono Mitsushi noticed a "white lily" in the flower shop next to the restaurant. Michie Tomizawa explained it was a Casablanca, her favourite flower. I don't know how accurate it is, seeing as its the English Manga, which we all know got twisted in one way or another in translations ^^' It should be noted Tokyopop uses the title as Casablanca Memory, not Casablanca Memories --Hanaichi 03:30, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- I have the official French translation of the manga and it reinforces the English translation, more or less. Michie Tomizawa stated that Casablanca Lilies were her favorite kind of flower and Naoko decided to incorporate that into Rei's character, much like the anime writers decided to make her a Michael Jackson fan as well. :) Lunar Archivist (talk) 16:03, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
- It's in the Japanese manga too, this would be good for the development section. Several of the Seiyuu and Takeuchi-sensei have said they communicated with each other. In one event, Kotono-san said that she saw the designs for the "new Sailors" early. And Takeuchi-sensei has mentioned them going shopping together.--Hitsuji Kinno (talk) 16:11, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Left-handed?
New change said judging by attacks she's left-handed. I can only assume this is referring to how she holds her wand? Even so, drawing on an official source for this info would make more sense. There might be a variety of reasons why she'd hold something in a certain hand. Do the other Senshi hold it in their left hand? Perhaps Rei wants her right free to throw holy tags with? Tyciol 05:39, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
- I doubt it if you're working off of the Tokyopop manga which was flipped... --Hitsuji Kinno 07:55, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, it looks to be that way in the anime. 213.249.135.36 (talk) 18:54, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
Vow of chastity
So, wow. Not only is Rei really anti-boy in the manga, but according to Act 36, at some point she actually took a vow of chastity to Princess Serenity--I checked the kanji, and they definitely mean 'chastity', not something ambiguous like 'honor'.
The only time I can think of in the manga where she has anything like a relationship is Casablanca Memories, but that's before the Dream arc, during which she seems to remember her pledge for the first time. Does she ever act interested in boys during the Stars arc? If not, this can be considered a solid fact, and certainly adds an interesting level to her character. --Masamage 01:47, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
Wow... That explains alot... (I wish i could read kanji and everything). That does sound really important. --Lego3400: The Sage of Time 22:20, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
- Heh, I used a kanji dictionary. Also, apparently in the equivalent anime episode she talks about wanting to be single forever? I haven't seen that, but didn't you watch it recently? Do you remember that? --Masamage 22:43, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
does it say why she gave serenty a vow of chastity or why Serenty would want her to? ♥Eternal Pink-ready for love♥ 22:44, 2 March 2007 (UTC
- I got the impression that it was mostly her decision, rather than something Serenity asked her to do. --Masamage 22:46, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
I'd like to add something here. The word used by Rei in the manga is "junketsu". While it is true that this word usually is translated as "chastity", and that Rei says in the manga that she made a vow to princess Serenity, it doesn't necessarily mean that she must remain single her whole life. In the West, we often think of Chastity as being equal to celibacy or sexual abstinence. In the Eastern cultures and religions however, Chastity has a much broader meaning, refering to a person's self control and the will to never give in to temptations or to never neglect his/her own duties. In fact, the word "junketsu" can be translated as "purity" as well as "chastity". In the manga, when Rei sees the "terror image" in the mirror, what is the main source of her fear is not the vision of herself being married to a man, but the vision that she is becoming a spoiled bride who only lives a lazy, lustful life. When she regains her confidence and defeats the vision, she remembers that she made a vow to Serenity of always being "pure", i.e. never to sacrifice her duties for her own temptations. Naturally, this vow includes restrictions on her own love life to some extent, but it is not as she is prohibited to ever date or marry someone. I thought I should bring this up since people are often a little too quick with interpreting the scene as being a "vow of 100% celibacy". 83.250.65.197 (talk) 13:03, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
Archery
I remember reading somewhere that archery is a traditional skill of a miko - this might be the reason why Rei's in the archery club, and the tradition behind Mars Flame Sniper. Would this [1] be a suitable reference to say so? - Malkinann 08:07, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- I may be going out on a limb here, but there is some consistency here. Another famous miko, the character Kikyo from the InuYasha series is also a well established archer. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 10:38, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- Well, it does make me feel this is probably true, but I don't think it's a good reference because it's obviously a fan page and doesn't say where it got this information. At Miko#In fiction it says that "manga and anime typically portray the miko as a heroine who fights evil spirits, demons, and ghosts, often with magical or supernatural powers. In such stories miko are generally depicted as being skilled in some variety of martial art, especially the use of a traditional Japanese weapon such as yumi (longbow), tanto (knife), or any of the various Japanese swords". So this may be a traditional skill of fictional miko, but not real ones; that'll take some research to figure out. --Masamage 20:20, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- If you want a serious description of what a miko does, there is this which mentions absolutely nothing about it. However, the Kojiki notes that Amaterasu has a bow and a thousand-arrow quiver, and miko do prepare hamaya,[1] special arrows sold as lucky charms during the new year.
- It should also be noted that miko did use a bow as an instrument of magical sound.[2] Kittybrewster Kid (talk) 16:10, 29 March 2016 (UTC)

Mistake in article
This page states that in episode 152 of the anime, Rei claims she wants to remain single forever. I have no idea where the person who wrote that came to that idea. In episode 152 Rei restates her desire to get married and have a passionate romance (as she has done many times), the exact opposite of what the article says. The character of the day in 152 assumes that Rei wants to be single for life because she is a shrine maiden, but all of the main characters think that is funny because of how far removed from the truth is. The character of the day’s assumption is treated as a joke and immediately refuted. I don’t know how the person who out that in misinterpreted episode 152 to such an extent, but I suspect it was by not watching it in many years.
My source is the same as cited by the article currently: Sailor Moon episode 152. Anyone who watches it can confirm.
