Why have so many small pages? I don't think that this article would become overlong if we did merge all of the individual Sailor Animamates into it. (Barring the Seramyu-only senshi.. I don't know what to do with them.)- Malkinann 05:59, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Okay. I went ahead with this merge, at least for the characters from the anime; I'll probably add Heavy Metal Papillon in a moment. Mostly it's the same text from the old articles, with some rearranging and condensing/expanding. So, I have a few questions.

Here are the three images that were in the previous articles: Image:Sailormoon leadcrow.jpg, Image:Nyanko1.gif, and Image:Heavymetalpapillon.jpg. I'm not sure how to fit them in so that it doesn't look totally strange. Do we need different ones? Do we need more, so each senshi is covered? What do you think?

Next question: where did the kanji for Iron Mouse's human name come from? Do all of them get kanji? Where do we find it?

Name

This article could use some information on what the name "Animamate" might mean. Ladies and gentlemen, I don't have the slightest idea! --Masamage 20:55, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

It may pertain to the Anima Sola or solitary soul, a Roman Catholic conept. The Anima Sola is depicted as a chained woman, whose soul is bound in Purgatory. One could view the shackles of the Anima Sola as a parallel to the bracelets of Animamates, which keep them in the service of Galaxia. Also the Animamates are kept somewhere between life and death by the bracelets just as the Anima Sola is kept in Purgatory by her shackles. The "soul" aspect could pertain to star seeds/sailor crystals as well, it seems to me that the Animamates draw at least some of their power from the stolen sailor crystals of the conquered sailor senshi, hence their sailor forms and attacks. This is all speculation on my part, but that is what came to mind when I first became familiar with the characters. Any thoughts?

It has been thought that "Anima"(アニマ) is just an abbreviation of "animal"(アニマル), this is definitely clear when you think about "Papillon", "Mouse", "Seiren" (said to have appeared as birds in mythology), "Crow", and "Nyanko" (Cat). Although, when Sailor Uranus and Neptune are under Galaxia's control in the anime, would they be referred to as "Sailor Animamates" aswell? ~ Fighter4luv 12:11, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

Anima is actually a word of its own, though, so I don't think it's supposed to be 'animal'. It has to do with life-force, which is of course very tied up in Galaxia's use of the bracelets on her followers. I think the name Animamates only applies to its specific group, however, rather than being a type of person; I think this because Sailors Lethe, Mnemosyne, Phi, and Chi are never referred to as Animamates in the manga. --Masamage ♫ 17:37, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. I just looked more into the meaning for "Anima". "The unconscious or true inner self of an individual" is the dictionary definition, which I think perhaps sums up the meaning more of less. Their true inner self has been locked away... as they are unconscious of what they are doing while possessed by Galaxia's bracelets; outer personality. Not sure if it's really important, but I was just writing up the lyrics for Golden Queen Galaxia for my website and the verse that talks about the Animamates, it uses the kanji 生命 (Seimei) which means "Anima // being // life" et, but the Hiragana (and the line she says) is Inochi. Galaxia's title

My impression has been that Galaxia is usually referred to as "Sailor Galaxia" in the manga, but "Queen Galaxia" in the anime. So I tend to use each title in different circumstances. Is that proper? Anyone remember? --Masamage 00:21, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

Contents of old Sailor Tin Nyanko talk page

I've just given this page a bit of a revamp. The manga stuff seems fine, but a lot of the anime info was either muddled or inaccurate: Nyanko never conspired to cause friction between the local senshi and the Starlights, although she succeeded in doing so, quite inadvertantly, during an attempt to kill Sailor Moon in episode 189. Also, she didn't pose as an exchange student in episode 188. Her civilan identity was that of just another Ginga TV staff member. She did briefly adopt a school uniform in episode 194, but this was just a ruse to get close to Usagi rather than a long-term masquerade. She did pose as an exchange student in the manga though, and I think this is the source of the confusion. While I'm at it:

It is revealed that Sailor Tin Nyanko killed the Sailor Senshi of her home planet, Mau, and not merely a brainwashed form of Sailor Mau; this is confirmed in the anime where she is healed by Eternal Sailor Moon's power and still calls herself "Sailor Tin Nyanko", and further in the manga by Luna calling her a "flawed imitation of our planet's single hero, Sailor Mau" in Act 46.

This is true for the manga, so I've cut out the anime bits and stuck this with the manga info. As for the anime stuff, it seems to be based entirely on supposition. There's no evidence that the Animamates killed anybody to obtain their position in the anime. Sailor Mau is never mentioned in the anime, nor is the planet Mau, and the same goes for Coronis, Mermaid and Chuu. In fact, in episode 195 it's pretty much confirmed that Nyanko is a good Sailor Senshi under Galaxia's control: Kakyuu states this outright - "Her memories as a Sailor Senshi are returning to her". The fact that she refers to herself as Sailor Tin Nyanko is neither here nor there: maybe this was always her name, even prior to getting brainwashed by Galaxia. Not to mention the fact that she's in a mentally disturbed state when she says this.

For your consideration: 1. Statements by Naoko, both written and verbal, were that Sailor Tin Nyanko did purposely displease and find ways to destroy other Animates. I cannot date and give locations for these meetings with fans now. 2. Naoko has been quoted many times saying Sailor Tin Nyanko was the Cleverist Sailor Senshi. (2b.) Some of Naoko's statements were taken as Nyanko is a Genius or Nyanko is the smartest Sailor Senshi -- However, it is believed there was difficulty in translation. 3. By reactions to Sailor Tin Nyanko of characters in the Manga combined with notes Naoko had for Sailor Tin Nyanko, we can only confirm that Sailor Tin Nyanko had gone by the name "Nyanko" before being placed in The Animates. ( I say "being placed" to avoid a war, as there is confusion on how someone becomes an Animate. Number of Animates in manga

Ok I found Pewter Fox and the Frog lady... The images are really bad though. Seiren

As has been mentioned before at the WikiProject, the katakana used for Sailor Aluminum X says Seiren, not Sairen. This is the equivalent of the Greek word Seiren, not the English word Siren (which is usually Japanized as I spelled it above). There was a brief toying with changing our listing of her name to Sailor Aluminum Seiren a while back, but not a serious proposal, so that's what I'm doing now.

No one's protested before, so this shouldn't be too controversial. Just the same, I'll give it a few days before making a switch. Say, Thursday, June 7. --Masamage ♫ 00:14, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Sailor Tin Nyanko

Just wanted to state that "Nyanko" should be written with Hiragana, not Katakana (ニャンコ should be　にゃんこ). I have made the necessary change on the main page. Just so that no one says "do you have proof" her name is shown as にゃんこ in the materials collection and the Sailor Stars anime end credits.　I also fixed up the long "rū" in "Arūminamu Seirēn". ~ Fighter4luv 15:23, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Group image

In light of the fact that this article has been tagged for excessive use of images, I propose that we replace the five separate anime and manga images with the group portrait from this image.
