Earlier franchise history

I think this account needs the story of the St Catharines teams--the Teepees fed a lot of stars to the original six NHL!! Bacl-presby 01:26, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

This is already on my to do list. Flibirigit 01:31, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
Pages for all St. Catharines teams have been completed. Flibirigit 18:34, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

Saginaw Spiri Alumni

The extensive list of former Spirit players has grown so much that is has been given its own article at List of Saginaw Spirit alumni. Flibirigit 18:34, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

I had an idea,,, perhaps create a category

Category:Saginaw Spirit alumni, and add the tag to the bottom of each player's bio. I've just done that for the 'Saginaw Spirit players' category, and know it's been done this way for other OHL teams. or, maybe I'll get to it myself later :) ColtsScore 14:40, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

In general, Wikipedia does not consider current junior players notable, except for top prosprects, or other newsworthy events. Flibirigit 03:53, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Hahahahaha. It's amazing the amount of power a celebrity has. In less than a minute, the pages was vandalised three times. Get ready for alot more. Comedy Central repeats the episode three more times, and that doesn't take into consideration all the other shows that he'll mention the "Colbeagle". dposse 03:53, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Mascot's Name

The team's mascot is named Sammy Spirit, an eagle. For the 2006-07 season (the team's fifth), they introduced a second mascot, a mini-eagle, who is named Steagle Colbeagle The Eagle. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.163.2.8 (talkcontribs)

More vandalism has resulted from this comment. Flibirigit 03:53, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
It's not vandalism if it's true. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.208.15.110 (talkcontribs)
Find a reliable online source to that fact. A satirical news show is not reliable. Flibirigit 04:03, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
Post hoc, ergo propter hoc. The name was mentioned on this talk page on 2 October, before the show aired. Just because the show aired before the edit, dose not mean the edit was done because of the show. Meanwhile, attempts to log into http://www.saginawspirit.com/home are being thwarted, probably because many people are indeed trying to source the fact. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.208.15.110 (talkcontribs)
Then we wait for the source. Truth is never in a rush. Flibirigit 04:11, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
Touche. Point taken. Although, I think there's a difference between vandalism and simple carelessness. It sounds more pejorative. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.208.15.110 (talkcontribs)
Yep, it's true. It's on their website. I personally liked the references to the Ottawa 67's :-D -- Earl Andrew - talk 04:20, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Oshawa Generals Ownership

I edited the sentence that said the Oshawa Generals were owned by GM. This isn't the case. They are owned by John Davies. Oshawa is the home and birthplace of General Motors Canada. Early in its history the Generals were sponsored by GM, which is why they were named the Generals. Agoodall 01:30, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

Junior League

Shouldn't it say they are in a "junior" hockey league? AveryG 02:43, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Content merger from Bob Mancini as part of the Notability wikiproject

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section.

The result was merge into section this page. -- Futurano 08:48, 16 June 2007 (UTC) Bob Mancini is an abandoned unreferenced stub article that neither asserts notability of the subject person nor meets the WP:BIO guidelines. So merging its content here seems to be the only alternative to AfD (ProD is unreasonably contested by some user). Thanks, -- Futurano 11:52, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

As no interest has been shown either way, I have redirected Bob Mancini to this article. Mention of his appearance on the Colbert Report has been incorporated into the coaches section.Garrie 01:32, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

We are supposed to wait 10 days for showing interest, not four, but ... the issue is clear anyway. -- Futurano 08:48, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Merge with Steagle Colbeagle the Eagle

The result was to merge. -- Futurano 08:51, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

The information in the Steagle Colbeagle the Eagle article is almost exactly the same as the information in the mascot section of the Saginaw Spirit article. It seems silly to have two articles with identical information. --Ddawn23 05:17, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:SaginawSpirit.png

Image:SaginawSpirit.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:46, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Spirit: singular or plural?

It's a little odd for the lead here to say that the Spirit (singular noun) ARE (plural verb) a team (singular noun). I'm going to make the change in the article, but I wanted to post here in case there was something I missed. And if I did, I'd appreciate if someone could point me to a style guide or the like that covers this issue, since I find it interesting. Croctotheface (talk) 03:24, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
