  • Not convinced on this one - ["Sabyasachi Chakraborty" -wikipedia -llc cinema] gets 76x, same with proposed spelling 6x. Unless there's a good other reason, or explanation why the 76x are wrong? In ictu oculi (talk) 00:42, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • 1) Notable newspapers are using the spelling! 2) it is peculiar, for wife and son's article we are using one spelling for surname, for man's surname we are using another spelling. One may say people of one family may use different surname spelling, but, I don't think it is applicable here! --Tito Dutta (talk) 02:54, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry not enough evidence to support, but don't oppose either
Times of India is notable, but not WP:IRS reliable/consistent on English spelling of Bengali names. site:http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com "Sabyasachi Chakrabarty" has 182x, Chakraborty 125x.
site:http://www.telegraphindia.com "Sabyasachi Chakrabarty" 58x, "Sabyasachi Chakraborty" 351x.
Our surname article is at Chakraborty, his wife and son probably should be too. However they aren't, and I agree about the inconsistency in family. In ictu oculi (talk) 23:32, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • (edit conflict) Make sure you are searching the exact phrase using quotes etc (like "Query"). If those newspapers don't have the option, you can search like this: "Query" site:example.com -Wikipedia
Replace example.com with site URL.
I have seen some people mention about number of search results in Google. That is not always a good point. It is one of the most asked questions in Google Web Search Forum. You search with anything and get 150,000 etc results. Now browse to page 6 (i.e. 6*20=120 results in general settings, you'll start getting all irrelevant results and more surprisingly you may get the message "No more result to show, try a new search?". As in here not too many results of the first page are relevant. Also note, like Wikipedia alternative name spelling etc redirect other sites too use catch all or catch alternatives. That means when you search with alternative spelling, you get the same website results there. Can you show me 3-4 Times of India etc newspapers article where the current spelling is used? --Tito Dutta (talk) 23:54, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Here are [site:http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com "Sabyasachi Chakraborty"] 125x In ictu oculi (talk) 01:29, 24 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I can see only 4 results in that page using the search box! --Tito Dutta (talk) 08:33, 24 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to go for Chakrabarty as i found that his wife and sons have articles using same. We should make it same. and we can list chakraborty for redirection. -- Nizil (talk) 19:04, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support The evidence is mixed, but consistency with his family members is desirable. I'd probably also support a move to change them to Chakraborty, but that's not the question before us. --BDD (talk) 17:55, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Birth date

[edit]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I was about to add Sabyasachi Chakrabarty's birth date when I saw the comment stating that the source cannot be a blog, iMDb or a "public record". The problem with that is, all of the websites I found containing his birth date are one of these three, I think. Plus, the whole internet has the unanimous opinion that his birth date is on (1956-09-08)8 September 1956 and his age is 68 years. Should I add the date to the page?

Thank you. I'm Here to Help You (talk) 03:07, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
