  • What I think should be changed (include citations): Dhowre was born in Canada and is of Somali descent.[1] She was the second oldest of her five siblings and came to Vancouver at the age of 12.[2] After graduating from high school, she enrolled at Howard University, earning her bachelor's degree in philosophy, with intentions of going to law school.[3]
  • Why it should be changed: Sabrina was born in Montreal, Canada and graduated from Simon Fraser University. Her birthdate should be added as well and a reference to her family (mother and siblings). The reference used for her move to Vancouver is not verifiable so should be removed. Suggested edit please:

Sabrina Dhowre Elba was born on June 16th, 1988 in Montreal, Canada and is of Somali descent. Her mother Maryam Egal emigrated to Canada from Somalia, where she raised Sabrina and her 4 siblings. [4] After graduating from high school, she enrolled at Simon Fraser University, earning her bachelor's degree in Philosophy, with intentions of going to law school.[5]

@Rbyrby Do you have a time stamp where she mentions SFU? It's not at the linked point in the video. —C.Fred (talk) 14:50, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your message. Here is a link to the SFU Alumni website mentioning Sabrina on June 26, 2023: https://www.sfu.ca/alumni/news/alumni-in-the-news.html Rbyrby (talk) 14:55, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Partly done: I've changed her alma mater to SFU. I'm still verifying the other changes. —C.Fred (talk) 15:06, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I cannot find a source to verify the date of birth. —C.Fred (talk) 15:08, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your message. In cases like these, where she has personally confirmed her DOB (which is incorrectly listed all over the internet) what can be done? There is one source online which correctly states it but there is other erroneous information on that website: https://www.famousfix.com/topic/sabrina-dhowre-model Rbyrby (talk) 15:13, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Rbyrby We need a reliable source that's published it. Famousfix is not reliable. —C.Fred (talk) 15:19, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok in this case I suppose we can omit the DOB then? Rbyrby (talk) 15:20, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the changes so far, however the alma mater under her photograph is still listed as Howard University. Rbyrby (talk) 15:22, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I got that and the SFU alumni category. —C.Fred (talk) 15:24, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Changes made. Changes to references aside, here are the changes to the text.
Dhowre was born in Montreal, Canada, and is of Somali descent. She was the second oldest of her five siblings, raised by a single mother, and came moved to Vancouver at the age of 12. After graduating from high school, she enrolled at Howard University Simon Fraser University, earning her bachelor's degree in philosophy, with intentions of going to law school.
Let me know if there's a source for the dob. —C.Fred (talk) 15:22, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok thanks very much for this, I will find a way to get a DOB source. Is there a way to include her mother's name in this section? Also I just submitted a second request (will have to submit 2 more for charity work and personal life) but was wondering if it would be possible to also add "entrepreneur" to the first line of biography as she co-created S'Able Labs with her husband Idris Elba. Suggested Edits part 2

[edit]
  • What I think should be changed (include citations): Career section
  • Why it should be changed: The current information is correct however the section is incomplete and not up to date.

Suggested additions after modeling career:

Sabrina has co-hosted the 2021 GQ Men of the Year awards [1]and has been a guest presenter for ITV’s Good Morning Britain.[2]

She has had an acting role in projects such as the CNBC TV series On Assignment (2005) [3] and the movie Three Thousand Years of Longing (2022) [4]. Sabrina and Idris Elba will also soon be executive producers on their first Afrofuturist adult animated sci-fi series tentatively titled Dantai[5], for Crunchyroll.

In 2022, Sabrina and Idris Elba created a lifestyle and wellness brand known as S'ABLE Labs (Elba’s backwards)[6].

Rbyrby (talk) 15:37, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The lifestyle and wellness brand is already in the article. It may be a matter of how to structure it. Also, words like "soon" should be avoided for the time factor; an exact date would be clearer, like "in 2023" or "in 2024". —C.Fred (talk) 16:40, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok thank you for this information. The wellness brand could perhaps be added to the Career portion instead of in "other work". For Dantai, perhaps it could be worded in the following way:
In January 2021 it was announced that Sabrina and Idris Elba will also be executive producers on their first Afrofuturist adult animated sci-fi series tentatively titled Dantai, for Crunchyroll. Rbyrby (talk) 14:40, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like C.Fred implemented a few of these requests, as far as the last request (re: being executive producers) I don't see that it is referenced. I also see that the COI editor implemented a second request below, so I'll close this one. Regards,  Spintendo  22:12, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Why it should be changed: this would be an addition: the first portion about her modelling career is great, but to thoroughly bring up to date and add to the validity of her Career page these edits would be helpful please.

Rbyrby (talk) 14:34, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'll let others reply, but I will say it is a bit of an oversight to not add the line "Sabrina and Idris Elba will also soon be executive producers on their first [Afrofuturist] adult animated sci-fi series tentatively titled Dantai, for [Crunchyroll]." There are also sources which can be gleaned from this line in the Afrofuturism article:

In early February 2021, it was announced that the companies of Idris Elba and his wife, Sabrina Dhowre, would be developing an Afrofuturist adult animated, sci-fi, series, tentatively titled Dantai, for Crunchyroll, which would be about a time when biotech has "created an ever-widening gap between the haves and have-nots".[7][8] The series was also described as an "afropunk sci-fi series".[9]

Thank you! Rbyrby (talk) 14:42, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sure! I added it to the Afrofuturism article, but I guess I forgot to add it to this article... Historyday01 (talk) 15:23, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
