Incorrect Information

[edit]

Someone keeps adding unverified information. All info comes from allmusic.com, my official Billboard books, and the official sites of collected sales and chart information. The UK chart positions were completely untrue and I have added references. The RIAA certifications are also wrong and someone keeps adding them back. Also, their first album didn't go gold in Canada as you can see on the site. And Downtown didn't chart in the US because it was a double-A side and at that time, only a commercial single could chart. So I removed that info for the US. None of their albums have charted in France. "Right Here" was there only entry at #31. They have no chart hits in Switzerland. The RockOntheNet.com source is no longer working and the group isn't even listed on the site. Find another source if some of these unreal accounts are to be taken into consideration. "New Beginning" went Platinum NOT 2xPlatinum. "Release Some Tension" went Gold. As for Europe, R&B didn't become popular til the late 90's and 00's. "The Remixes" has gone Gold in the US. Someone deleted all the ROCKTHENET SWV stuff..New Beginings went 2X PLATINUM in 1996 selling 4million records via NielsoundScan..It's about time sold way more then some 3 million albums sold 8 million albums and by the end of 2007 it is still selling..all this information is via swv official web sites, forums, and MYSPACES..which are all legit.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.210.119.222 (talk) 08:33, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It was deleted because the ROCKTHENET page didn't exist. And if you check the site it has no SWV page. The official RIAA database states otherwise about sales. Puckeylut (talk) 21:27, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I BET YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT RIAA didn't have all the information right..I use Nielsound Soundscan and that's the information they gave me..so..AND fyi..THE SWV SITE IS SWV OFFICIAL SITE (I USE TO BELONG TO IT)..The forums are still working and the person who works over the forum knows SWV personally. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.212.75.20 (talk) 03:15, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You realize that you're taking fansite information over the official RIAA database. I'd like to see how you're using Nielsen Soundscan. Because these sales look more like wishful thinking. Puckeylut (talk) 04:42, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have to sign up for Nielsan (which cost) and whoever added 3 Million to it's about time sales is a bit crazy that was one of the best selling albums of 1992....AND ONCE AGAIN IT'S NOT A FAN SITE..IT'S RAN BY SOMEONE ONE PERSONALLY KNOWS SWV AND THEIR MANAGER..Besides..these are sales combining all the of their singles sales and everything with that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.212.75.20 (talk) 05:52, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can understand then if you combined singles with album sales, however, you can't do that. They're both separate. Puckeylut (talk) 05:58, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And quit adding unverifiable information. Now their first album suddenly went 7xPlatinum??? If you're going to add completely untrue information, find a reliable source. You can't add worldwide sales and such if you have no source for it. I will remove the info when the RIAA database is back up. Puckeylut (talk) 06:05, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

actually didn't add the platinum things..I added the world wide sales..remove them and they will be back up there. Since you no oh so much and trust oh so everything. . —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.212.75.20 (talk) 06:17, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Find a source for it then. You can't keep adding unverified information. Wikipedia is about facts. Puckeylut (talk) 06:59, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Downtown" RIAA certification

[edit]

So I have a question. Someone keeps adding "Downtown" as certified RIAA Gold but the song was a B-side single, not an official single. On the RIAA website, it doesn't mention "Downtown" being certified as a stand-alone single, only "Right Here (Human Nature)/Downtown" as certified gold. Would you still say "Downtown" was certified gold? In my own opinion, I would think it wouldn't be. Sackkid (talk) 04:52, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
