guns
[edit]This boat also has a twin 40mm, as I noticed in person last week. I dont know if they put it on there for show, or what, but the specs dont show it to be on there.????.?? --Kvuo (talk) 04:19, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
- You are correct, the twin 40mm guns, used for Anti-aircraft warfare were donated to the SS Lane Victory. SS Lane Victory took the donation and put them on display as a museum piece. Looking at the base you can see gun mount is just spot welded to the deck, the gun's bolt holes are empty.
Usage in Hollywood
[edit]This article states: "The engine housed in the Lane Victory's cargo hold was used as the engine for the USS San Pablo in The Sand Pebbles (film)." Well, yes, the engine used in that movie is currently housed in the hold of Lane Victory, but that's only because someone moved it there to be part of the ship's museum long after the fact. Thus, it really isn't an example of this ship being used in a Hollywood production as the heading in the article would suggest. Now, Lane Victory has herself been used as a prop in many a TV show, commercial, etc. which oddly enough isn't really mentioned. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.158.61.140 (talk) 19:54, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
