Additional Operator

[edit]

I am new to editing wikipedia but I have found a photograph from Admiral Cruses which took place on the SS Emerald Seas- I am happy to send this to anyone as evidence but I noticed that Admiral cruses was missing as an operator. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.219.54.42 (talk) 22:01, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

TUI brochures a verifiable source?

[edit]

Is TUI Brochures a verifiable source, when no link or release date has been provided? And which TUI brochures of which country? TUI has operations (by quick count) in 41 countries. If I go and get a brochure from my local TUI-affiliated travel agency, it doesn't even mention The Emerald. -- Kjet (talk · contribs) 05:46, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed move

[edit]

Now that the ship has been sold for recycling, should the article be moved to the most well-known name of the ship, which I assume to be Santa Rosa? Tupsumato (talk) 10:06, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There is a disambiguation page where a link for SS Santa Rosa (1958) directs here. However according to the Ships Project naming conventions it is recommended that the most recognized name be used in cases where a ship changed names and/or registry. Given her longest and most recent name was The Emerald I would argue that she would tend to be recognized as such by the general reader. (There is also the issue of her dramatically altered appearance in her second career.) She has not operated under the name Santa Rosa in over 40 years. I see. I guess that's okay then. Tupsumato (talk) 17:46, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Name

[edit]

Upon further investigation I've discovered that she still had the name The Emerald when she was laid up at Eleusis after her Louis service ended in 2009. Therefore it's possible that she was never called simply Emerald at all. If this is the case then either a page move to SS The Emerald is in order, or we simply refer to the ship as Emerald throughout her Thomson and Louis career. Is there any consensus on this? Useful321 (talk) 12:25, 19 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I've resolved this myself and confirmed that she was indeed called Emerald at the time of her scrapping in 2012. Useful321 (talk) 15:42, 19 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Further to this, I've moved the page to SS The Emerald, given that she had this name for sixteen years and only had the name SS Emerald for scrapping, and so will be much better known under the former. Useful321 (talk) 15:07, 23 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
