gear ratios

[1] with two different gear ratios. This allows them to have increased tractive effort in exchange for a reduction in top speed. This makes them suitable for both freight and passenger trains.

This doesn't make enough sense - are there two versions, or some sort of gear change mechanism.?Sf5xeplus (talk) 17:30, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
