Missing information
[edit]What this article really needs to improve its quality is some mentioning of proactive and envelope commmands. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hlovdal (talk • contribs) 10:12, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
Bingo!
[edit]- However, it is possible today to change STK Menu for WIB or S@T based applications quickly Over The Air via SMS bearer, without the user having to return the SIM or even take it to the operator's business center. For BIP-compliant SIMs and when the handset is BIP compliant, it can be very fast (GPRS/3G speed). It might also be possible to change the menu of WIG-based STK applications.
- S@T?
- SMS bearer?
- BIP?
- WIG?
Thanks for answers. --Abdull (talk) 23:10, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
- BIP = Bearer Independent Protocol. See for instance this white paper for more details.
- S@T = SIMallianceToolbox. Any reference to S@T should rather be removed in this article as this is completely irrelevant today (searching for "S@T SIMallianceToolbox" on google gives just 12 hits...). From this What is S@T? article:
- S@T (SIM Alliance Toolbox) -enabled mobile phones uses SMS (Short Message System)
- text messaging as the communications pathway, rather than WAP's native data protocol.
- Hence S@T is reminiscent of WAP 1.0. The attraction is that there are far more non-WAP
- cellular handsets in circulation than WAP 1.1+ compliant units.
- Using SMS as a bearer might have been attactive in 2000, but is not today. I suspect that this paragraph has its origin in some very old presentation or something like that.
Photos?
[edit]Can someone provide photos or screenshots of a running STK application, ideally with the same application running on different mobile phones (to compare the look-and-feel)? I have the feeling that STK applications are nonexistent in the field. --Abdull (talk) 17:46, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
